Introducing - - - The Homer Street Woodpecker
He arrived about a week ago - I'm not sure if he's a commuter (migrating) or come to stay. but my walks to the Caltrain in the morning now feature The Homer Street Woodpecker. All the birds in our little city are getting more and more active and vocal - springtime here we come!
UPDATE: actually - a little websurfing and HE is actually a SHE. The busy woodpecker on Homer Street (based on her colorings and size) is probably a female Acorn Woodpecker (Melanerpes formicivorus)
