thoreau: (watch for drama)
Today started with a serious power surge hit our floor here in the building at the radio station about 6am - with the power supply on the floor literally catching fire. which killed everything - including our signals to the transmitter on Twin Peaks, our online streams and servers for email, documents and telephone. It's been insane running around getting that rolling. so - I ran in - as I'm just two MUNI stops from work - and nearly 7 hours later - we're back up on every front. EEK! We had extension cords running down hallways to give power to the studios. We had to relicense all of our transmitter machines (as that was a maintenance choice - but since they were down hard - they lost their licenses...ugh.)

but - in the midst of all this crazyness? the big boss - the station manager calls me into his office. and tells me they are giving me a nice raise - retroactive to April 1 when I first requested a salary review. So my July 31 paycheck will include a retroactive amount - which will allow me to get a parking spot in the building! YAY! He was overtly complimentary of my work on all three sites - particularly the new WOLF website which debuts next week. He also says that I should know that when anyone he talks to asks which website is the best in radio - he unflinchingly says http://www.kdfc.com - - which we are constantly tweaking for the best radio experience.

and then - even better - the big boss ordered in BBQ for everyone because of the challenging day. So I'm suffering from bbq beef bloat - but omg it was yummy. no beer though - drat.

After work tonight? my buddy Mr. [livejournal.com profile] bukephalus is in town - and we're going to dinner somewhere.

YAY!3

My buddy [livejournal.com profile] bukephalus has arrived... he instantly bonded with the goddess, Miss Kate [livejournal.com profile] kateydog... to quote BP: "Our gray hairs match - she understands me!"

I am going to go buy a cheap seat - and hear Bernadette Peters sing with the San Francisco Symphony. I'm taking my opera glasses. :) Total spontaneous fagdom.

Leo and I raced over and stood in line at the Symphony - and it sold out - 9 or 10 folks ahead of us. *grumble* Well I look at Leo and Leo looks at me and we RUN for the Orpheum Theater - and VOILA - 5th row seats for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE! OMG what a fun delightful show! We laughed and laughed and laughed.

SF'ers - this show is simply fantastic. GO SEE IT!

I haven't laughed that much at theater in a very very long time!
