eons ago - back in Seattle - I helped start a comedy group called "ETHEL!!"

Originally inspired by myself, [livejournal.com profile] pandabuff and others as a brutal scathingly mean slam on the men's chorus subgroup "Zipper!" - - it morphed into much, much more. We sang everything from backstreet boys to other artists - in full on ETHEL MERMAN VOICE - all 7 of us. Made for the most scary vibrato weapon ever conceived.....

The Original ETHEL!!:

T: Muffin/Moi,
H: Ken,
E: Roger,
L: Joe,
!: Chris,
!: Dan
and Robert/Her

So - scary enough - this spring is the 10th Anniversary of Ethel!! The group has changed out members over the years so that now - the original gorgeous line-up you see above have all moved onto other luminous musical adventures - and Tony [livejournal.com profile] pandabuff has suggested that the original ETHELL!!s return from the corners of the earth and reunite at the Seattle Mens Chorus live auction on April 18th. So, Seattlites - it appears that Hurricane Muffin will be descending on your fair city come mid-April.

Having just joined the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus - and then having contact from Tony about ETHEL!! - it's lovely stew of memories of the past and wonderings about what frightening adventures I'll find with my new chorus family here in San Francisco.

The picture isn't loading.

10 years, eh? That means your time in Seattle and my/Ric's time overlapped. Small world.

I REMEMBER "ZIPPER" from the small ensemble festival at Ball State: I was in the subgroup of "Voices of Kentuckiana" (Inner Voices). I remember an especially lovely affairette I had with a member of Zipper, but I'd happily trade all that for a chance to had heard ETHEL! OMG! It's sounds FANTASTIC! Is there any performance footage?
