I re-activated my Weight Watchers account this morning. I think I need a refresher. My weight has just been slowly creeping up - and is now the point that I can't fantasize that I'm gaining weight in muscle. I know I've been falling off the "don't eat all that salty sugary crap" mantra - so I have decided a couple of months of getting back to tracking and recording is in order.

Now - before folks chime in, this is simply a personal choice to refresh myself on the tools weight watchers provided me when I lost all the weight back in 2007. I am more comfortable with my appearance and energy level in the 175-185 range - (I was right at 180 for my 40th birthday) - and I weighed in this morning at 195. So I've gained ten pounds and I want to reverse the trend and re-visit the successful weight regimen that Weight Watchers provides. I know that the 175 pound spot isn't where my body is happy either - as I spend a week there - then my body 'evens out' at 180-185. It becomes a negative thing when you fight to stay at a weight - I'd rather find a nice comfortable weight I can maintain.

I also have to admit that I have not been as devoted to the gym in the last month or so. So I need to recommit to my exercise routine. I know that the combo of WW and the gym - I can take the weight off and keep it off. My gymbuddy Michael and I have both been to 'easy' on the "I'm tired tonight" or finding other excuses not to make it to the gym for our four or five day routines. We all have that 'occasional' fuck-the-gym night - but it's been happening a lot lately. I need to have stronger resolve - that even if Michael doesn't make it - that I march my furry butt down to the gym. Period.

I feel better and feel better about myself when I'm in that 180-185 range. So time to strap down and get back to discipline. (you've been a bad muffin! *thwack!* no more snacks!)

You and I both, bud. I put on 20 in that same period... but I've clawed my way back onto the wagon... I'm holding on for dear life

You are absolutely right to get back into the discipline that helped you accomplish your goals the first time. After I lost the 32 lbs in 2004, I slowly but surely abandoned the habits that helped me achieve my health and fitness goals .. Of course, a lot of it had to do with what I went through with my folks, but I let it slide .. I have to take responsibility for my actions. Good for you!

That's great. I really need to do the same thing, and I'm a believer in the Weight Watchers approach. The meetings and some of the literature are not my cup of tea, but the core of the program, keeping track of calories, fat, fiber and the other things they make you monitor are common sense.

for me it's more a reminder - and a reboot of my habits. :) I find counting calories and 'points' actually very reassuring that I'm eating right and keeping on track.

yeah - the weight watchers online is what works for me. a month (maybe two) of it - and I'll be back in my proper routine.

Good luck with it, muffinman - I know you can do it.

Meirion's doing well, he's lost 8 pounds so far, and really enjoying the food. I am loving it too, though not formally on the program.

It's a constant battle that we all fight. I've been fighting it for 30 years now. I refuse to go larger than a 34 waist. I was 34 at age 36 and at age 60 I still am but it's hard and oh so easy to say fuck it. I don't go to the gym. That costs money! I work hard and walk all the time. I also eat organic and gave up the red meat back in 1975 along with the alcohol ! It all helps but the battle still rages on ! Good luck,I know you can do it.
