"to taste the full spread of the joys of samsara, such as wealth and other pleasures,
is like tasting poisoned food, licking honey from a razor's edge, in short it is a jewel on the head of a rattlesnake; one touch and you are annihilated" - Shabkar

In Buddhism, samsara is the eternal cycle of suffering before enlightenment - the cycles of birth, suffering, death, and rebirth. and Shabkar (1781-1851) is a bit of a drama queen. All his quotes are the buddhist equivalent of fire and brimstone. However, he is considered by many scholars to have lived and taught the model Buddhist life.
