Well - I'm back from transferring Miss Kate from the ER to the Vet. She's not feeling well - she wouldn't sniff nor lick my face when I saw her and is clearly in a painmeds fog. The doc at the ER said that today will be really important - either she'll respond - or the better decision will be to help her stop her pain. I can't imagine life without Kateydog - this is really hard.

Okay - just off the phone with the vet - She's raising her head and looking around. Which is really promising. He described her as "a little better" than when he first saw her yesterday. He's going to keep the fluids going all day - then inject fluids under the skin - and send her home with me overnight. I can't have any food out at the house - or water - because that will start her pancreas working and cause vomiting. Then he wants me back at the vet tomorrow morning - for more fluids - and we could perhaps start her on food and water on Thursday. The struggle tonight will be that she'll be home - but with a catheter in her arm - so I'll have to keep a very close watch on her - even at night - to make sure she doesn't try to remove it.

The doc has stopped calling the situation "dangerous" - which makes me feel a lot better about Miss Kate's prognosis. But it's making me crazy - with the cost of all of it (I'm a girl on a strict budget) the vet visit yesterday and the night in the ER was very expensive. I know it's all worth it - because he's starting to talk like Miss Kate can make a recovery.

on top of all this today - the new countertops went in at the apartment - so I have boxes of kitchen stuff all over my apartment - and I had to call and get out of jury duty this morning at the Superior Courthouse - and will have to do so again in the morning. I'm also on the phone fighting with DMV because the car tabs I paid for - STILLLLL have not arrived in the mail. I couldn't make up the last 24 hours if I tried. LOL! oivey!

so - I'll go by and pick up Miss Kate at 730 tonight and bring her home for the night. and then take her back into the vet at 10:30 in the morning. and try not to let all this stress make me spontaneously combust.

Just got Katey home from the vet - and all settled in a nest of blankets and pillows on the couch. She still has the catheter in her leg - because they are going to give her more fluids tomorrow. But when we went to pick her up (my neighbors Mike and Mike whom many of you have met) she trotted out and wagged her tail - and even rolled over on her back on the sidewalk outside the vet for a tummy rub. She's sleeping now on the couch - I know that she's glad to be home.

She turns 8 on Monday - and I know I'm looking forward to celebrating with her. We'll be back at the vet at 1030 in the morning for another evaluation. Best case scenario - we go on a gentle morning walk - but she's wagging and alert - and then we won't spend any more time hooked up to IVS at the doctor. They'll inject liquids under her skin to absorb - then I could start feeding her water and small amounts of food on Thursday.

I'm so happy to have the goddess back home!
