Smuin Christmas Ballet

Last night I attended the Smuin Ballet's Holiday Show with Eric at the Yueba Buena Performing Arts Theater downtown. The first act - as traditional ballet - done to holiday classical standards (excerpts from Messiah, the nutcracker, etc.) - and true to form - their second act was interpretive dance done to modern songs like "Santa Baby", "Blue Christmas" and "Christmas Island" - and was done with incredible sensitivity and sense of humour. I am so glad to live in the same city as this troupe - as it's the first ballet I've really connected to in years. I gave Eric his gifts - since he's heading off to Salt Lake for the holidays. It was a wonderful evening....

Here is a YouTube video of their choreographer, Amy Siewart's work (for those that are dance inclined):

Beast! It's whats for dinner!

I had the delightful company of Greg Garcia ([livejournal.com profile] beastbriskett) and his delightful boyfriend Mark for dinner tonight. I hate entertaining on weeknights because it starts later - and has to end earlier. (I'm in bed by 10pm on gym nights so....) We had cheesesteaks and snapples and sat around the living like it was a college dorm. It was a lot of fun.

It was great to catch up with him - and do some reminiscing... we also talked about the branding project at KDFC - and how much fun the last year has been professionally. We agreed to do dinner again soon - when nobody has to get up early and we just STOP. (or play xBox with Mark - whichever comes first)
