I've been doing a lot of listening the last few days. While my brain continued on at WARP 90 - I didn't post to LJ. I read - and listened and interacted by commenting and lurking. A friend emailed me over the weekend, assuming that my silence funk related or that I was depressed and that that the bile buildup by this point could be catastrophic and could I please post? I didn't want to write. Couldn't be farther from the truth. But I have to admit that the last year of my journal gives lots of reason to think that in my case silence equals drama. But - that solution is soooooooooooooooooooooo 2007. (snap!)

I actually had a very quiet and restful week - after Petey's ([livejournal.com profile] pulsecub) departure - I just turned up the tunes and read for a few days - your LJ entries and a delightful book called "Badlands" about a travel writer going on vacation in the "axis of evil" Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Cuba and other regimes the Bushies feel are "naughty." It's a nice break.

Saturday - I did nothing. I slept in till 630am - sat around the house in my jammies till 10 - took an hour long bath - and downloaded the Rufus Wainwright concert in Carnegie Hall. Katey and I took a few soggy walks out in the rain - then settled in for a movie - we watched "The Bourne Ultimatum" (which just rocked for an action movie). (see? I've become boring!)

Sunday morning I got up too early - 5am. and meditated. and took another long bath. Then I had a first date with a delightful guy - we took a sunrise hike with Miss Kate (even getting caught in a squall under the Golden Gate Bridge) and had breakfast together after walking together on Ocean Beach. It turns out - our paths have crossed several times - within one person or two over the past 20 years from living in Bellingham WA in the late 80s, to The Seattle Men's Chorus in the early 90s, to the gay couples camping group Jon and I started in Idaho in the early 2000s, to an incredible array of shared interests here in the bay area from books to art to outdoorsy stuff and a unquenchable love for all things San Juan Island related. I think he and I are going camping together somewhere for Martin Luther King weekend.

I came into work this morning - and paid a $100 deposit on my vacation in May. That feels real good to do. now to save pennies and be able to pay the balance later. (little things right?) I'm hiking from Asheville NC on the Appalachian Trail May 4-9. (linky) I'm trying to decide if i should fly into DC and do some quality smithsonian time afterwards or not. or drive out to the outer banks and walk along the Atlantic for a few days continuing the nature theme. Still not sure about all that.
