I am really finding this move out of the Waller street flat into the high-rise a big turning point for me. When I moved into this flat in February 2007 it was the end of my relationship with Rick and the start of a pretty intense emotional detangling (aka The Rickisodetm) ending last May when I excused Rick from my life.

The seven months since have slowly been building up to something - and I thought perhaps it was the launching point for the new novel or some big new creative direction but instead it has turned into this big move. The new highrise apartment will be a final coffin in The Rickisodetm and let me live in San Francisco without any daily reminders of that tough transition.

It's not about dating David (although he is pretty incredible) - but I was even clear with him that I was making this move into the highrise and 'downsizing my life' a little for me. and only me. (the great thing is that he totally "gets" that!)

Sure I'm going to see Rick (he recently joined my gym for instance) - and I won't forget any part of the whole difficult ordeal - but this move allows me to simply make a giant (for me) bold move forward. I started packing last night - there are now boxes everywhere and all my art is down. This weekend will be the Great Clothing Purge of 2008 as I get rid of all my unworn "bigger Robert" clothes and get read to go from about 900 sq feet to 500 sq feet. David and I have been toying with floorplans (imagine someone as anal-retentive as me.... it is truly frightening). I am very excited to move - and leave this apartment behind and make a fresh step forward.

I live in a world-class city full of great theater, opera, food, culture, museums and unparalleled natural splendor - and I plan to squeeze every drop out of it in the next year.

David and I are talking planning a late summer early fall vacation together. We're going to fly to Chicago and visit his family - then take the Zephyr Amtrak train from Chicago to Denver, stop for a day or two and see Brett, David, Connor, Tofer, etc in Denver - then continue on back home to SF. We both have always had a big fantasy of having a sleeping compartment with a boyfriend (yes, readers, we're using the "b" word) and taking a nice long train trip like this. So - we're saving clams and talking about ideas.

I'm also tackling this new short story writing challenge - and perhaps some new art to put up in the Highrise Muffin Suitetm.

I've been asked to audition for a play at New Conservatory on the 30th - and I'm probably going to do so. (I've been re-reading and prepping a monologue of Buzz's from LOVE!VALOUR!COMPASSION!)

and work has been full of some fun projects.... so it's all working out!

and by next Saturday evening- we'll be toasting all this - from the 26th floor balcony overlooking the city. I could not be more excited.
