In Palo for the weekend with Dr. Goldberg :) I just go in from a dogwalk with Miss Kate. We went on a bagel run. Along the way we encountered an adorable blonde/white basset hound puppy named Georgia who was ALL paws. She just came out of nowhere and started playing with Miss Kate. Kate likes to play - but more often on her terms and not in drive-by-puppy attack sort of way. LOL! Miss Kate was all at once playing - looking up at me saying "well just don't stand there - help me out here!" - and then looking at Georgia as if to say "look Missy - I'm 9 years old - you are so not getting away with this crap." then just as suddenly as Georgia - the house she came from ERUPTED with children. I think I counted six - and then the bewildered Mother followed them out. They were headed to the park - and were doing so (at 8am) and several Dbs above the pain level. She already looked exhausted the poor dear. They scooped up Georgia, much to Miss Kate's relief, and headed down the block in a cacophonous hurricane of action and screaming. (reason I'm gay #499458)

I came back to the swanky Goldberg pad - and worked a little. Monday - KOIT launches a website promoting "Staycations". (sorry [livejournal.com profile] stripedtiger but they pay my bills!) The Staycations website (clicky!) is causing a big splash nationwide for Entercom - and like Classical Star Search, is the brainchild of my team in San Francisco. So twice in in as many months - my team's work is being mentioned on a national level as "this is the kind of work we should be doing". Now - if you go visit - you'll notice some of the content is missing. (but any comments you'd like to leave - I'd love to hear them)

My team is working over the weekend to get it populated by Monday morning. So it is still a work in progress. But - - - it's so very cool to feel (and perhaps be) on the solid right track with radio promotions and ideas. The Staycations concept tested SO high with recent focus groups, (KOIT is a lite rock format and has a very very high "family" listenership in the bay area), so high in fact it was fast-tracked before someone else in the market launched a similiar promotion. KOIT's tagliine is "lite rock, less talk" - and the program director is SO excited we are actually going to (gasp!) promote this project on the air as well. So it's a big big deal. We'll be giving away a family Staycation every week till September - starting with a weekend family trip including hotel and food to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo.

"What is a Staycation? It’s a Stay-at-Home Vacation. We’re so lucky to live in the Bay Area, with a wealth of fun things to do right in our own backyard."

With gas prices hitting $4.50 here in the bay area? close to home vacations, particularly for families like the hurricane of kids I mentioned earlier - are going to be very popular.

Anyhoo - off to wake up the doctor and have bagels. tah.
