So last night the lights went out on Friends are Forever - we had a lovely audience and it was a great show - but all the actors were showing signs of "thank god this is done" all evening. Enthusiastically trading closing night gifts and hugging and knowing that these men that have been almost 50% of your life since July 4th - are going away back to their own lives. Theater shows ending always have that feeling of the last day of school from childhood. Where you are so damned excited about the summer ahead of you - but you know that all your friends will perhaps not see you again till September. Their family will go camping - or they'll go off to spend the summer with other relatives - or as happened often in a military childhood - they'd get transferred and move over the summer and you wouldn't know until you asked where they were the following September. I know that I'll do another show - possible with many of the actors in this show - another day. Everyone was SO good in this show. I came home last night exhausted - and slept NINE hours (I'm usually up around 6 and today - woke up to let Miss Kate up on the bed - and went back to sleep till 9am. Yikes! But I do have exciting things coming to me in the next few weeks and months - my vacation with David, big projects launching at work, a revisit/polish edit of my novel, and my first holiday season with David. (I am a big excited Holi-queer, let me tell you!) FOr today - it's take Miss Kate out in the sunshine - and then come back and shower and get ready for Folsom with David. then meeting the guys at Octavias (a little minitradition that started back at Dore this year). but - this morning my mind is a swirl of excitement, thankfulness, reflection and pause. Freedom is such a strange thing....

An absolutely stellar Folsom2008! Starting with brunch with all the boys - Leo and Michael, Michael and Michael, Scott from Seattle and Tony from England and of course Dr. Goldberg. We wandered down through the fair - and got our group shot taken by Mark I. Chester - then wandered the fair and finally - when the crowd became a bit much - we wandered home. David and I are resting our feet and hanging out together quietly after all the noise and crowds. But it was a great, great day with friends and seeing so many happy friends out and about for the day. Yay!3
