WARNING! COW PATTY!

I've slept really oddly the last couple of evenings. Apparently - very vocally.

Dave left me an email telling me how we'd had this conversation when he got home about me falling in cowpoop.

Dave worked a late night at the office and came in around 1am - and came in the bedroom and gave me a smooch - and apparently my subconscious reacted by telling him (through my voice) to watch out for the cow patties in the hallway - that I'd fallen into cow poop. Apparently my use of the word poop - vs. my normal sailor style shitfucketc. made Dave giggle - and my subconscious immediately called him on it - telling him it wasn't funny to fall in cowpoop, that it took forever to get it out of my hair - - and to be very careful. which of course probably made Dave laugh more. (I, of course, remember none of this conversation)

I do remember him coming to bed finally - and telling him it was nice to have him home - and being the giver/provider that I am - that I had the bed all warmed up for him. I also remember him telling me to go back to sleep. LOL.

protecting your words

I was having some discussions with elfkat about people copying and pasting from her blog and using her words as their own. The online rules for such things - particularly on blogs - are difficult. and any expectation of real security or protection for copy/paste word thievery is very old-world thinking.

I have added javascript to sites before that prevent right clicking or mouse-clicking at all. (like this)

Even putting a Copyright (© 2010 lowfatmuffin) statement is dangerous unless you actually HAVE the copyright. (because then when you point the finger and say 'I had a copyright statement' but don't actually HAVE it - then you look like a putz.

I have a couple of suggestions. for posts for stuff you don't want people borrowing or taking - post it as a text image from Photoshop or even paint and WATERMARK it.

or even better consider writing it in word and publishing as a PDF with watermarks and link from there - like this.

its a tough world out there - and with Google finding every mention of anything on the web - for those of us that make a living using words; its a tough reality that cut and paste can be a simultaneously cool and uncool thing.
