"We habitually erect a barrier called blame that keeps us from communicating genuinely with others, and we fortify it with our concepts of who's right and who's wrong. We do that with the people who are closest to us and we do it with political systems, with all kinds of things that we don't like about our associates or our society. It is a very common, ancient, well-perfected device for trying to feel better. Blame others. Blaming is a way to protect your heart, trying to protect what is soft and open and tender in yourself. Rather than own that pain, we scramble to find some comfortable ground." - Pema Chodron

So - I was feeling ickypoo - and decided to head home. I have some sort of stomach flu - and am in the little perverts room every 20 minutes or so. the train expressed out of the station - then stopped in Bayshore (two stops south of downtown, five minutes into our 'express' southbound...) when they announced a "bomb scare" - and that all trains (including the train we were on) had to be searched for bombs. So we were detrained at Bayshore while dogs searched the train. They let us back on the train about 445pm - and we sat till 545pm when they finally let trains southbound. However - it would be all local stops. so now I've been on the train two hours - and I'm five or six stops from home. and let me tell you - there is nothing grosser than having the stomach flu and having to use the caltrain restroom on a packed standing room only caltrain. I'm sitting on the floor outside the restroom. Indian style with my lappytop. Calmness, mindfulness and a sense of patience - has served me VERY well today.

Update @ 6:08pm: Dave just emailed me and said he heard what was up - knew I was feeling bad - and has come home - walked the dog; and is rewarming potato soup I had put in the freezer. He promises not to burn the soup. AND if I email him in Menlo Park (one stop from home) he'll have a hot bubble bath waiting when i get home. I LOVE MY GUY!

Update 7pm FINALLY HOME! haha - I misread Dave's email - he said "think" about taking a hot bath when you reach Menlo Park and that he would warm the soup but he would have burnt it! LOL - and then left me a note "gone square dancing, hope you feel better". the soup (in a frozen block) is on the counter. and insult to injury - I left my keys on my desk - so I had to buzz the neighbors to get in the house. OI VEY! THREE HOUR COMMUTE HOME FROM SAN FRANCISCO. (sigh)
