Out goes naked drawing group (for at least a few months) - in goes "Yoga for Men" on Wednesday nights at the California Yoga Center in Palo Alto. It was just a matter of something had to give on my schedule and I really needed to add Yoga to my schedule. The class I'm going to is specifically for men and concentrates on "back care" and exercises to improve posture. Wednesday becomes a double whammy day actually.
I also started attending "Bootcamp Lunch" class at the gym (Mondays - Wednesdays - and Fridays) - the class is taught by Doug (who I think is gay... from comments he makes in class about "being a big girl" - but.....) - - and is described as "This class will challenge the athlete in of you! Class combines the boot camp concept with sports conditioning. Students will combine strength, flexibility, speed and coordination training in this class. Come ready to jump, squat, lunge, push, crunch and sweat!" It's basically a fast paced circuit workout - but in a class format. So there are usually nine stations set up - and you do reps in three rounds - :30, :45, and then 1:30 - everything from pushups to kettle ball curls to burpees. then its multiple reps of floor exercises after that. It's an intense workout and my body is FEELING it.
I'll miss some of the guys from the drawing group - but I really need to get Yoga practice in.
I'm doing so well at the gym - I need to make that my priority right now.
I'll continue to practice drawing and other creative stuff for sure.
I'm also excited to start on a re-edit/grammar-edit of HOUSE OF WOLVES with Aldo Watkins (
dancecub) - with preparation to have House of Wolves re-released under a new publisher in 2011. All very exciting stuff! It will be nice to revisit this work in a better emotional space than where I was when we hit the publish button in 2007.
