"I'm really glad you're here....."

Dave blurted that out in the shower this morning like it was my first time spending the night and showering with him (we care about the planet and regularly shower together). and like the big old softee that I am I got all teary eyed on him. Dave is NOT verbose or dramatic or prone to Iloveyouhoneys or any of that sort of syrup on the pancake faggyness that well, lets be honest here. It pretty much describes me. :) Dave and I have lived together a year on the 15th and are on our way to our third year together as a couple. We managed to weave together a relationship that allows us our faults and we find subtle and not-so-subtle ways of being very supportive of each other's every dream. We've spent a year doing nice changes and additions to our home, planning travel and encouraging each other to do and try new things.

Our hike today was a good example. Once a weekend - I literally MUST get out and do something outdoors after being stuck in a (nicely appointed and billpaying) office all week. So I usually do a two or three hour bike ride (or longer) out amongst the California Oaks or along the bay shore. So this morning when Dave got up I told him that I'd prefer to get my outdoors time with him and Miss Kate than by myself. and he smiled and said what a nice idea that was. (of course then I presented him with highlighted maps, places of interest, etc. - - because the man adores good planning) and we got our on our hike - (Dave is still learning that "hiking" with Miss Kate is not at any sort of fast pace. We found ourselves stopping to let her pant for a bit (She's 10 this October - not a spry energy filled puppy anymore) -- and the unexpected surprises like meeting the six-point buck and the friendly horses (pictures here). And on the way home he commented that he'd lived in Palo Alto for 12 years - and never knew any of where we'd been was there. I mean - he knew the open space program etc. - but had never hiked out there. So it was a real prime time together - - and a way to share for one weekend - that sense of peace and quiet I get when I'm out on my bike.

Next weekend - I'll go off to "Henry David Thoreau Day at Save the Bay SF" and spend the day de-littering and weeding the San Francisciquino creekbed (which is now dry for the summer). and while Dave will stay home while I work - he'll understand WHY I'm out there - (and besides he wants me as far away as possible as he assembles our new deck furniture that arrives that day, but I digress...) He supports my spiritual path, my sometimes nazi-esque healthy eating choices (DEATH TO COOKIES AND SNACK CRACKERS!!), my cooking show, my piano lessons and my constant myriad other crazy creative ideas. I buy him the occasional math textbook off his Amazon wishlist with delivery names like "Dr. David OMGHEISADORABLE Goldberg" - and have them sent to his work address. (because I care! it's all because I care!!)

anyhow - tonight - he heads off to Saratoga to go square dancing and I go to piano lesson. but we'll both end up here in our treehouse home - and he'll often come to bed at 1am or 2am - - but he always whispers something lovely in my ear like he did this morning in the shower. We're going great places together.

"The Wall"

I was warned by my piano teacher that it was imminent - and as of tonight's piano lesson I have officially hit "the wall" - of where it goes from fun and breezy celine dio hummy-ness to brainhurting-counting-every-measure-finger-breaking madness!

MADNESS! MADNESS I TELL YOU!

(ahem.)

I am Don Quixote however - so I'm tilting at the windmill, Mary!

(qouting 'teddy roosevelt' from arsenic and old lace)

CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!
