"The simple person lives the way he breathes. With no more effort or glory, with no more affectation. Without shame....Simplicity is freedom. Buoyancy. Transparency. As simple as the air. As free as the air... The simple person does not take himself too seriously. Or too tragically. He goes on his merry way, his heart light. His soul at peace, without a goal. Without nostalgia. Without impatience. The world is his kingdom and suffices him.
The present is his eternity and delights him. He has nothing to prove since he has no appearances to keep up, and nothing to seek since everything is before him."

Yesterday's filming and editing was a lot of work; and I still have a fair amount to do. *yikes!*

Here's my pitch, a show called (and I need a sexier title) "A Conversation About Food"

The audition tape is three minutes - and it is "hi my name is Bob - and this is how I cook - and why I should have a show on food network" - so I'm splicing together highlights of Bob's kitchen with a voice over. talking about how I never knew how to cook before doing the show - and how it's created such a conversation about food with my friends - and new friends. and how food network could help me widen that conversation with a show that is all about listener letters, tips and ideas. a "listener generated show" like "food network live" or something like that. :) and who better to host the show - than a blog addicted, Facebook/Twitter whore like me? (chortle)

What I want to be able to show in my three minute tape is that I went from burning water - to a cooking show that people actually follow and interact with over the span of the last four years. Highlighting particular successes and a couple of poking fun at myself moments (like bending over and showing viewers my butt in Episode #1) -- and pitching a show idea thats about an everyday guy that can talk about food in an uncomplicated way - and would take user emails, chats and tweets and investigate food ideas, kitchen utensils and methods. I know that in cooking magazines - my favorite sections are honestly the "reader tips" - and I think that's a unique original idea for Food Network.
