""Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity." - Pema Chodron

Yes - another body image post. (feel free to scroll on by if it doesn't interest you!) I know I post a far amount about obsessing about my body - and workouts - and food. (its part of my charm I guess!)

I work hard to keep in shape - and I know others in their 40s and 50s do as well. so perhaps there's some of this going on for ya'll too. (wink)

so - this time last year - I wore the orange shirt below and was accused (drama!) by the boyfriend of "dressing as a traffic cone for halloween" - and since - I've been working on ridding myself of middle and thinking "when halloween comes in 2010 - I'm going to ROCK this shirt hard" - and this morning in the dark grabbing bike clothes - I grabbed the orange shirt.

Progress has been made (see pictures below) and I'm very happy to report - there is obvious signs the middle is getting smaller - and the upper chest is getting bigger.

I had to laugh this morning - I was out walking miss kate in this outfit and a small boy asked his father out loud (rather loudly) "why is that man wearing orange?" (stopped at a stoplight on his 5 year old bicycle with training wheels) - and the father looked at me as if "help! please! if I don't answer he'll ask all day long!" - and, after introducing him to Miss Kate, I explained that I bike to work like he bikes to school - and orange helps keep me visible to drivers and other traffic. The little boy beamed at being recognized for 'asking a nice question' - and told me that orange was his favorite colour. It was a VERY cute moment.

have a great day folks - orange ya glad you read this?

I just registered to be a rider in AIDS LIFECYCLE 10!

From June 5-11, 2011, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

I have put up my rider page here - and my fund raising goal is $5000 by June 1.

and to start things off - I'm putting up $1000 out of my own pocket to reach that goal. So we need to raise just $4000. Thank YOU in advance!
