re-entry

i'm up super early thanks to daylight savings time and being on east coast time.

I've been up about an hour, wrapping myself in the silence of a late fall early morning - meditating, caffeinating and planning a gentle re-entry into work and getting back into it all. I love vacations that help you adjust your mindset; rearrange some internal priorities; and increase the thankfulness quotient. Awesome!

I couldn't have asked for a better trip, honestly. Introducing Drew ([livejournal.com profile] bootedintexas) was really fun. Now David "gets it" - about how Drew and I interact and how we're simultaneously identical in many ways - but clearly not in others. It uncomplicates it, which is really nice.

I always say when I get away with Dave that the best part is watching him relax and experience art and how we tend to wing our vacations; not really planning things in great detail. This trip was no exception. He was just darling to travel with, and is just the most remarkable partner. I do love that little guy!

All that said, we were both very glad to be back in our OWN bed last night; snuggled up with Miss Kate.

I tried really hard to plan my work at the office - so that i wouldn't come in (like my previous job) to a billion undone things; and I think I accomplished it (granted, I'm not in the office yet). I just breezed through work email - and all my automated functions worked great.

Mid week while I was gone, the entire management team received an auto-generated statistics report I built in Google Analytics - giving them both a snapshot of October activity; but also trends and a year to date. I went through each set before leaving and annotated it to show how marketing efforts resulted in hit spikes that were measurable. now to see if we can turn hit spikes into sales in our profit centers. (i'm just a spoke in a larger wheel.) The email responses to these reports are pretty awesome - - and it helps keep the websites 'visible' to management even when I'm not in the office. (win!)

Tonight? omg my body needs the gym. I hit the gym once on vacation (with the adorable and affable [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]) - but its important to get right back to it. I really liked how I looked in all the photos from the trip - even the ones in the surf in Galveston where my skin was whiter than the beaches. but - gotta keep my eye on the goal. (bare chest calender 2012!) Arms need to bulk up - and get more defined - and I need to continue work to get rid of that extra tummy. but - I'm very proud of how far I've come since making the turn-around in 2006. I used my passport this past weekend for ID - and it's a "big bob" photo. a reminder of where I had been at one point.

anyhow - time to finish my cuppa coffee and shower; then take Miss Kate out for her morning walk before jetting into the office. and I should go over to Facebook and post my Monday cheer.

READY! OKAY!
