Kateydog update.
Here's an update. It's 6pm - and I just chatted with the doctor. He has diagnosed her with severe, chronic pancreatitis. In other words - her pancreas are failing and that's putting poisons out in her bloodstream. so - we're going to admit her overnight - and give her IV medications that are going to hopefully jump start her pancreas. I'll have to go over in the morning and take her back to the vet - where they will keep her on these same IVs all day tomorrow. and then we'll re-assess the situation.
The drawback is that the doctor says there is a small chance she won't recover - but is recommending that we try - because there is a higher possibility that she will recover - although it's going to be a rough couple of days - and a long road back to full Miss Kate fabulocity.
But - he had to be honest and say that we could do all this - and her pancreas may simply be too far gone. He said the xray shows lots of liquid around her pancreas - (the mass he could feel with his initial examination) - and he will give her some anti-inflammatory. So - at 7pm - I'll go transfer her from the vet to the ER - she'll spend the night on IV at the ER - and then I'll go back in the AM - and transfer her back to the Vet.
Rough stuff, maynard! rough stuff!

Just FYI, in humans pancreatitis is VERY survivable! Any ideas from the vet what caused it? In humans it's usually drinking too much, a medication/toxin or a gall stone stuck in the duct.
I hope she's up and perky again very soon!
