Probably high school. Hi, my name is Neil and I am ... ummm ... actually ... ummm ... a Donnie and Marie fan. There I said it! :) Hard to believe that she turned 49 this week!

I never liked the show; I did everything I could to leave the room if someone in the family turned it on. Thankfully, most of my family agreed with me on this.

I think it's strange that the Osmond family studio in Ogden, UT, special built for this show, is now the Cirque rehabilitation whatever currently occupied by Miss Lohan. In his monologues, Bruce Vilanch goes on and on about the back room antics at the studio and the need to drink/smoke/snort anything and everything in Utah so he could deal with the family.

Yup ...

it was on before Love Boat - and was a HUGE hit in my household. My folks loved it - because it was "popular music" that didn't offend their overtly whacked sensibilities.

LOL. OK, I was very young when this aired and YES... can you believe I do remember it. (I am 40 now so there)

I also had "on vinyl" several of the Donnie and Marie albums. I really liked them. They are so... well... 70's. I won't be ashamed. I will admit this.

As a young gay (who didn't know he was gay at the time) who was mildly attracted to any popular young nice looking man in the culture, Donnie was cute. I knew Marie was his sister. Yet... they always sang these lovey dovey duets about being lovers and in love and... they were related. That was the one thing, even as a youngster, I couldn't get. Why do siblings (these in particular) sing love song duets? It seemed a little creepy.

It was only years later that I connected the dots and realized that YES it was creepy. Even though I grew up in the south (insert all kinds of relative :cousin-brother-sister: marriage humor you want) I was not quite sure of the relationship of the singers versus the words I was hearing.

Still, it didn't stop me from buying the Millennium edition of some of the Osmond's greatest hits about 3 years ago. I just love to hear Donnie sing "Puppy Love" or "The other Side of the Mountain". I am such a queer. :-) And I REFUSE TO BE ASHAMED.

i can remember when you bought a "Donnie and Marie Album" and cried for three days when you found out it was covers by no names and Donne and Marie themselves. you were truly upset for days.

Mum used to use "you wont get to watch Donnie and Marie" as a way to keep us in line during the week. We wouldnt misbehave cause we had to be there on Friday Nights.

i am afraid. very afraid

it was one my most embarrassing third grade moments taking it to show and tell only for me to learn Mom had bought me a COVERS album by the "Peejays" rather than the real thing. I got laughed back to my seat. You on the other hand and bought the BeeGees tragedy and were the hit of your class.

OH THE DRAMA!

Well, from the other comments here I guess it was on Friday nights, so I would probably be in the shower getting ready to go out... not sure what year this was. If it was '75 or earlier I would have been headed for DJs or Gotch Carrs, the 2 streety gay/trans bars in Syracuse that didn't card at the door if you looked queer! (I was a precocious young man, and started my career as an invert at a young age!)

This stuff always creeped me out just a bit... this is clearly a "couple" song... which begs the age old question... *blech* oops sorry, just threw up a little in my mouth...

I did a couple of recording sessions there while I was at BYU. Check out this Wikipedia entry.

The Osmonds lost money on that enterprise, so the family sold the building.

I blame Inside Edition and TMZ for the false reports of the building's location. It's the same place.

Nowhere near a television, that's for sure. I lived in neighboring Provo not far from the studio in Orem. I never had any interest in them or their oozing squeaky-clean images (even though I was pretty damn squeaky clean myself in those days).

Tell me that was just a Coke commercial, please.
