My dogs were unable to look out the windows (my ex didn't want the doxies jumping up and down, since it's bad for their backs). But they stayed with their grandparents while we were at work, and Sophie, the Little Empress, liked to go to the back of the sofa around the time DD was expected home for work, to watch for him. When we got the second doxie, they'd rassle for the best position to watch for him.

she REALLY likes the couch in the window - she's the queen of the universe. and it's a devine place to sit and feel closer to the outdoors. (as much as one can here in the city)

When DD and I were on holiday in Italy, and saw a dachshund, we would go over and say hello (we missed our girls). We refered to them as, Sofia, l'Impatrice Piccola e Rosalina, la Principessa Imperiale, or Sophie, the Little Empress and Rosalina, the Imperial Princess. People laughed and said they knew what that was like.

Gawd, but I miss my girls.
