Off to Philharmonia Baroque's presentation of Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto #5.

I have great seats thanks to the station - I'm taking along as my cohort for the evening - Ranger Extraordinaire Mr. Poelzl of [livejournal.com profile] whiskerfish/[livejournal.com profile] f8n_begorra fame. (wink)

Here is a Youtube of a performance by Valentina Lisitsa so you can share in the Beethoven-style love I'll be soaking in tonight.

I am blessed to live in such a classical arts-rich city!

Woof!

Yes, isn't our city wonderful!? Anyway, where was that being performed (the clip)? I know it wasn't, but it looked very much like the Davies stage. The Philharmonia Baroque is putting on Cleopatra with Isabel Bayrakdarian in March. I had the opportunity to perform with her a couple of years ago when we did Mahler's Symphony Number 2. Unfortunately, she was paired with Lorraine Hunt who grossly overshadowed her with her magnificent voice. I would love to hear Isabel carry the stage on her own.
