That this memorial exists in the city pleases me, but that so few know of it has just the opposite effect. In a city that espouses tolerance of all, and that has become a haven for so many that the Nazi movement would have seen expunged from existance, this is a needed reminder of what depravity our species is capable of.

Roughly 10 years ago, I was going back east to visit family and I made a detour to Washington DC specifically to visit the Holocost Museum. It's an important experience for anyone who's visiting the east, though I would caution you not to go see it alone.

I spent an entire day there with my ex partner Jon (the good ex in Idaho) in 2004. it's breathtaking from the very first 'elevator' ride.
