Bubble tea is quite common up here in Seattle as well. Most Asian stores or food courts will have bubble tea.
While they may feel like fish eyes, the tapioca pearls are actually quite nice.

Never heard of it. Is it made with a shot of carbonated water to give it that fizz?
As for the assistant, sounds like you've found the male version of my comic strip's Mo. Definately a keeper!
