every weekend feels like a vacation....
I had another remarkable weekend with David :) He is a multifaceted amazing guy! This weekend we started having the kinds of chats you have in your sixth week together.
Just kidding! LOL!
What we did do was go driving up Skyline - and we drove past Alice's restaurant but didn't stop. (we'd just had breakfast)
the bikers were stopping for pie and social hour - so there were lots of bikes and chapped up boys to wink at.
We thought of going hiking somewhere up on skyline - but GOOD LORD the wind was cold - so we took a side trip down into the valley - to visit the portola redwoods state park. We literally had the entire park to our selves. If it had been warmer - we might have tested our outdoor soaking in palmolive skills. but it wasn't. SO - we went on a nice handholdy walk with the goddess (whom adores David btw, he's KateyDog Approvedtm.
Then we went back down into Palo Alto to check out the art museum at Stanford. Cantor Arts Center is pretty amazing. they have so much Rodin scuplture its out in the hallways and has split out in the garden. lol! They also had a lovely exhibit of "Frederic Church, Winslow Homer, and Thomas Moran: Tourism and the American Landscape" - talking about the romantic western paintings these three helped make so famous.
The highlight - was a reproduction of Rodin's THE GATES OF HELL.

the piece is so intense and so striking. It caught me completely off-guard - I'd seen pictures of the sculpture but never seen it up close. the fine details that fade off into waves of iron and rock. its simply astounding.
More on the Gates of Hell here if you are interested.
Last night I made a great mushroom stew - and we cuddled in and had another lovely night together. This morning I made stonecut oats - and we read the paper together.
it was a lovely, lovely weekend. it's very comfortable being around him - and we're already making plans for next weekend. one step at a time right?
