I had another remarkable weekend with David :) He is a multifaceted amazing guy! This weekend we started having the kinds of chats you have in your sixth week together.

Just kidding! LOL!

What we did do was go driving up Skyline - and we drove past Alice's restaurant but didn't stop. (we'd just had breakfast)

the bikers were stopping for pie and social hour - so there were lots of bikes and chapped up boys to wink at.

We thought of going hiking somewhere up on skyline - but GOOD LORD the wind was cold - so we took a side trip down into the valley - to visit the portola redwoods state park. We literally had the entire park to our selves. If it had been warmer - we might have tested our outdoor soaking in palmolive skills. but it wasn't. SO - we went on a nice handholdy walk with the goddess (whom adores David btw, he's KateyDog Approvedtm.

Then we went back down into Palo Alto to check out the art museum at Stanford. Cantor Arts Center is pretty amazing. they have so much Rodin scuplture its out in the hallways and has split out in the garden. lol! They also had a lovely exhibit of "Frederic Church, Winslow Homer, and Thomas Moran: Tourism and the American Landscape" - talking about the romantic western paintings these three helped make so famous.

The highlight - was a reproduction of Rodin's THE GATES OF HELL.

the piece is so intense and so striking. It caught me completely off-guard - I'd seen pictures of the sculpture but never seen it up close. the fine details that fade off into waves of iron and rock. its simply astounding.

More on the Gates of Hell here if you are interested.

Last night I made a great mushroom stew - and we cuddled in and had another lovely night together. This morning I made stonecut oats - and we read the paper together.

it was a lovely, lovely weekend. it's very comfortable being around him - and we're already making plans for next weekend. one step at a time right?

6 weeks? YAY!!!

Today is 6 months for Tinman and I. If you can be half as happy with David as I am with Bill...well...that's a lot!

Congrats!

the thing - is that we're taking one step at a time. we're not looking forward months - but weeks. we're talking about perhaps taking a trip together. and we had a chat about the ever present HIV topic this weekend. He's much less of a 'emoter' than I am - so thats also taking time to find comfort zones with. I'm the kind that screams things from rooftops and is constantly touchyfeely - and he's the kind of guy that mentions several weeks later - that I'm thefirst man he's ever brought roses to. :) he has a delayed response on things sometimes. I really enjoy his company - but we're both coming into it with insecurities. we'll see where it goes naturally.

don't sweat the details

Are you having fun? Does he treat you well? Do you smile when you think of him? Does Kateydog approve? If you answered yes, than that is enough.

Just enjoy the journey.

precisely over-thinking is something I do A LOT. and the the Rickisodetm shattered my confidence in the romance department. but

yes I'm having fun
yes - he treats me tremendously well
I totally smile when I think of him
and well Kateydog adores him. :) but then where both of them are concerned I'm a tad soft in the heart.

good way to go, but just go with the heart and like Jim said, don't over think, just ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY the fun! I'm so happy that you're having someone special to play with and spend time with. YAY FOR YOU!!!

Have you gotten to the part of naming the (sure to be perfect) children? ...and whether they should go to public or private school?

well - he wants to name them after famous theoreticians and mathematicians - I want to name them after famous show characters and greek mythos. LOL!

as for public or private? we were expecting you'd sign up to homeschool :);)

There's a musical called Fermat's Last Tango, and some of the characters in it are Euclid, Pythagoras, Theodore Gauss and Isaac Newton. So any of those would satisfy both requirements...

Now for the $64 question: Think you'll check out the Cult?

I might one day - but right now - with new novels bubbling to the surface and other things? I don't feel like I have the time mainstream class would entail. who knows?! We go to Sundance together (two stepping and linedancing) so that's a start :)

yep ;)

it was delightful to touch base on the phone - now it's a matter of time before our paths cross in person. (smooch) I might even suggest to David we put the pup in the car and come find you - - - is there any good hiking there in the valley? I haven't been to Stockton area in forever and a day.

Glad things are going so well with Dave! Enjoy yourself.

I've spent an hour or so crying at Stanford in front of "The Gates of Hell" in December. I was hoping to get back there this trip, but I've not had the chance so far.
