Admittedly, I'm biased, since I used a similar free technology for my own modest photo Web site, Bucephalus Studios. There is nothing wrong with a "wowie" factor to make an otherwise ordinary gallery stand out.

Moreover, I disagree with your other commenters that it adds no functionality. Unlike many Web galleries, these Flash-based ones are equally easy to navigate via mouse OR keyboard. (At least once you've selected one image.)

In addition, it makes it harder for people visiting your site to rip off your photos and distribute them to others online.

I can see where it might get a little annoying for displaying large numbers of images. Bur for a smattering of modest-size galleries, I think it works well.

And it's neato!

I think that its interest lies not in the functionality apparent when you use a mouse, but in the fact that it will be more fluid and natural for someone using multi-touch gestures.

My guess: this is a packaged iteration of a project destined for a soon-to-come input device.

Freaky, but in the good, funky way! Intuitive interface. The only thing about it that it needs is a way to "lock" the angle of the grid, echoing the motion sickness comments. For some, I can also see that the effect of the tilt-grid would take away focus from the photos.

All in all: great!

yeah - I've been using jalbum.net for some projects for clients - and this one was high on the "most downloaded" list - and while cool ONCE - its not a photo gallery I'd return to over and over.
