Tonight's the night - our six finalists and Lang Lang on stage at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Ticket sales exploded over the weekend - and we're looking at a full house. I can't imagine being one of the six finalists - with a chance to perform on stage with Lang Lang. Considered by the New York Times as the "hottest artist on the classical music planet", 25-year-old Lang Lang has played sold out recital and concerts in every major city in the world and is the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic and all the top American orchestras. So - tonight - is going to be quite the event.

Below is a clip-reel of the 14 semifinalists that didn't make it into tonight's finalist event. We're having tonight's program recorded and we'll be posting highlights tomorrow or Wednesday.

Lang Lang is amazing -- I saw him perform at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia a couple years ago, and for one of his encores he played the fastest "Flight of the Bumblebee" I've EVER heard. he has the precision of Horowitz, with incredible expression. Just wonderful!

He has a thing about the Tom and Jerry cartoons which is particularly endearing.
