I had such a great weekend..... after taking Jeff and David by the apartment yesterday - - David and I came back to the Waller St. Apt. for a bit - and I sorted clothes. (aka THE GREAT CLOTHING PURGE OF 2008) all the XL shirts and (gasp) XXL shirts were taken ot the thrift store never to billow in my closet again. (I still have a stack of denim owed to [livejournal.com profile] intooutdoors and [livejournal.com profile] musicbearmn from back at the holidays, sorry guys!) but - now I'm down to a reasonable sized clothing juggernaut. After TGCPO'08 - David and I met up with the Michaels (the good Michael [livejournal.com profile] bibliocub and Just Michael [livejournal.com profile] sfleatherbear (who is simply the furriest yummiest creature!) and their doggies Shadow and Kacey. We hit up Glen Park Canyon and had a laughing ball talking and adventuring with the dogs. Then David and I came back here to soak in palmolive before meeting the good Michael for dinner at Home.

Last night was drunken lesbian night (according to the waiter) as we were seated between two big tables of shot drinking loud ladies. David had the Pot Roast (but was unimpressed "Pot roast should come with vegetables!") One of the most adorable things about David is how he just pronounces things like "I despise bananas!" and "I'm ready for a bite of your chicken now!". Michael had the fabulous meatloaf and I had the 1/2 a baked chicken (w/o skin). but I get ahead of myself - first we started with a plate of "deep-fried brussel sprouts". I kid you not! Battered and deep-fried brussel sprouts. They were yummy - honestly - but the whole time I was like "omg they deep fried brussel sprouts" - but it definitely was interesting. THEN - we shared the "dessert trio" - three scoops of homemade sorbet (pineapple, strawberry and blackberry), chocolate cake and a cherry/peach cobbler. It was decadent and we ate ALL OF IT. (scared that drunken lesbians fromt he table next to us would want some)

THen last night we came back to the somewhat packed up house and watched "Brazil!" by Terry Gilliam. WHACKED3! then David and I had a nice night's sleep. Okay - thing I find adorable about David #9493943 - is that we sleep intertwined and always in each others arms. Romantic Factor GAZILLION! He and I woke up early this morning and had a nice chat about the new apartment - and how excited he is for me. (David isn't quite the verbose emoterama that I am. well - not that anyone is actually.) Then we went and had the breakfast yogurt parfait at the Duboce Park Cafe - and it was lovely. Fresh seasonal mango and sweet apples. Major Yummyness!

David and I came back here and wrapped dishes and glasses and got me mostly finished packing. All that's left is the computer - the bed and clothes. I'll get to that as the weeknights come along. then Next Saturday -is the big move. :) I am so excited.

What is making it all feel so good these days is some really great positive friends in my life that are just daily reminding me how lucky I am. and I know -t hat sounds like a load of sugary nonsense but... its true!

It seems that I'm revitalizing long time friendships, starting a wonderful relationship with David, and brought on a few real gems into my life in the last few months. The people that surround me are so honest, supportive, loveable and wonderful. It really makes the biggest difference when you surround yourself with positive thinkers. :) Yay!3

Yay indeed! Your posts are always so fun to read. Not just because of your positive outlook, but because of elegant and witty style. Emoterama -- Ha!

Brussels Sprouts

Actually, I've been thinking about Brussels Sprouts. I was thinking how they might be just the ticket in reviving and re-doing some of the old recipes for cabbage.

As an example, how 'bout smoked sausage or kielbasa, cut into pieces and served mixed with golf ball-sized potatoes and Brussels Sprouts?

Brazil!

I agree - Brazil is WHACKED! It's also my favorite movie ever. :) I have the Criterion Collection Boxset of it.

You may be sucked into the CULT yet! There's hope! Just look out for pods in the most benign spots.

Deep fried brussel sprouts? Sounds so overwhelmingly Southern! That's Danny's veggie of choice when we're having something that isn't pasta 'n sauce. I grew up with Bird's Eye Frozen Brussel Sprouts in a quick-tear box about every third meal. But never deep fried!

[personal profile] abqdan says that David is the ultimate nice guy, knowing him from his 10 years in the Bay area. I don't know him that well, although I've known WHO he is for years. He's what I'd call the 'shy' type.

Send him our best!

"Brazil" was my favorite WHACKED movie until I saw "Being There!"

I'd have to say Dan's description is right on. He's the ultimate shy, nice guy. and I'm totally smitten. I'll let him know you and Dan said hello. He won't be at convention - he's actually looking for someone to take his hotel room.

LOL - it was a nice piece of pot roast in mashed potatoes with a spicy cream sauce over it. it wasn't very "homestyle" - David does love his cooked vegetables though. and yeah - I'm keeping him. He understands that if we really care about one another - we don't need to rush ANYTHING. :)

My favorite way to may pot roast is in the crock pot. Place a cut-up pot roast in the bottom of the crock pot, and pour the contents of an envelope of dry French Onion Soup Mix over it.

You can add your favorite root vegetables halfway through the cooking process.
