So - Gerrard (the handsome blonde bombshell in the play) is a dance teacher and personal trainer. I'd mentioned to him that I wanted to make some changes in my workout - and he asked if I needed a trainer. I told him that the budget these days didn't have room for a personal trainer. After seeing my design on the postcard for the play, he emailed me about doing an extensive website for his teaching, modeling and personal training practices in trade for him becoming my personal trainer. that could really work out! We're going to meet at the gym on Saturday and talk about it and come up with a schedule. I really want some guidance on taking the whole gym thing to a new level - concentrating on my stomach and balancing strength building with bulking up. He also wants me to keep a week of an "eating diary" so he can take a look at my diet.

David left for the UK for ten days today - he's participating in a technical conference at Oxford and doing some team-building with a group he works with at Imperial University - that he works with long distance. He actually hates traveling for work - and this is his last trip for the year. He says that with planning perhaps I'll tag along to Oxford next year (it is an annual conference).
Thisdoes will might sound nauseating but this is the longest we've spent apart from one another since we started dating back in March - and I'm already missing the little guy. I'm faced with a weekend with SO MUCH free time I don't know what to do with it. The play has given the cast the weekend off - but it's our last weekend off until September 30th. Yikes!
I have dinner plans with the visiting
bukephalus on Friday night - and I'm planning to attend Dore Alley on Sunday - - but other than that? no plans whatsoever.

The play continues to improve and we're into our last week of scene rehearsals. Next week is five nights in a row of full run throughs. Yikes! Then come August - its two weeks of run throughs and technical rehearsals (adding lights and costumes) then previews start August 15th - then we officially open on August 23rd.
For those of us (like me) that are on a limited budget - the theater offers a "pay as you can" night on August 21st - but you need to call the theater and make reservations - 415-881-8972
One of the cool things this director is bringing to the production is seamless play. There will be scene transitions but they are filled with what the director calls "interludes" - - where you learn things about characters in unspoken tightly choreographed scene changes. Where, as part of the "story" of the interlude - the stage gets arranged for the next scene. The play is filled with all sorts of fun music and has a real fun 'dance' feel. This play is going to put SUCH a smile on the audience! From the stylish clothes, great happy music, amazing writing and set design - - this play is one of the coolest stage productions I've ever been involved with.
oh - and a few of you asked for it - here is a link to the hires photograph of the cast.

I finally get the Mini Car back today. The final tally came to almost $3000. Brand new leather on the backseats, new glass in the car everywhere but the moon-roof. and new paint all the way around the car. I am going to be so glad to have my car back. I have an application in to park in my building - but haven't heard back yet. So I'll be parking in a friend's garage temporarily. Having a parking space in my building is going to be real good - it'll be safer, and uber-convenient. A few of my friends have suggested that I sell the car - but I just love having it. and I almost have it paid off. So taking care of my investment is a good thing.

3) It will be so fun to see you perform! On stage, I mean.
4) I'm sure it will be great to have your car back. Damn, repairs can be so pricey. At least they got it fixed relatively quickly. I need home repairs myself, but contractors don't mind making people wait forever.
5) We love your journal! Hugs!

Date: 2008-07-23 06:35 pm (UTC)2. I'll hope to see you at Dore. (Hell, I'm hoping to meet a number of handsome men from LJ there!)
3. The play sounds like fun, and you're obviously enjoying it. Would there were time and money...
4. I've been there with other cars I've owned, where the total damage is huge and I'm very grateful for insurance! Glad you're getting it back soon.

Date: 2008-07-23 07:22 pm (UTC)Side note partial-wet-rag: hope none of your LJ friends are LJ auditors. Bandying about publicly that you're doing barter trade for services in which two individuals normally charge (and would have filed tax paperwork on) is dicey stuff these days.

Date: 2008-07-24 06:24 am (UTC)When are your previews? And where? If it's possible, hell, I like up and energy-full plays. I just don't see enough of them!
There're a number of friends I'd like to see; there's never enough time! Still, I'll try. :-)
If I'm lucky there'll be another visit later this year or early next. This time driving! It'll mean more time, but I'd love to see the coast.
