night. that is.

Last night's performance was magic. It was sold out - and it was a perfect audience to bring these characters to life with. Having never performed this play in front of an audience - it was very very interesting to see where people laughed and more importantly, where they did not. These six preview shows will help us mold the piece so that by the time we open officially on the 23rd? It'll be a well-oiled machine of a play. It just such a wonderful experience! I've never been part of an original play like this - and it is so totally different. You really have no idea what you have in your performance or in the play itself until you do it in front of people who are experiencing the material for the first time. My friend Bob came to the show last night and brought flowers (omg nice!) - and was standing talking to David when I came out from backstage. What's funny is neither of them had made the connection to who's who. So that was a very funny moment, when they realized they'd been talking to each other for a few minutes - and were the person I'd asked each of them to find. LOL. SO we wandered over to the wine bar at Hotel B Wine Bar (on Rose Street by Zuni) and shared plates of goat cheese and dates, and some absolutely wonderful Austrian bubbly. David and I came home around midnight and poured ourselves into bed... and well it was just a wonderful night. Now begins the journey of six weeks of shows - and well for today; spoiling David and reminding him how truly wonderful he is.
