BDBTA - Day 3: Oscar Wilde
Oct. 12th, 2008 05:47 pmAfter a lovely quick train ride into Chicago - Dave's 'favorite cousin' Lissa picked us up at Union Station and we took a lovely trip up the lakeshore for brunch. (The Heartland Cafe) David had a "Peach and Cheddar" Omelette that was surprisingly savory considering the ingredients and I had the largest salad on the planet (no pictures, sorry) From there we went to Chicago's Lifeline Theater.
At Lifeline - we saw the 4pm show of "The Picture of Dorian Grey" - - and wow - what incredible theater...

Literally an enactment of Oscar Wilde's novel - the interpretation by Robert Kauzlaric was beautiful. The stage allowed for both generations of Harry and Basil to interact with one another. Brett (
septimuswarren would have had the most REMARKABLE time with this show. Lifeline theater specializes in dramatizing famous novels. If you live in Chicago - check this out.... http://www.lifelinetheatre.com
David said "the play didn't have much plot and relied really heavily on witty sharp dialoque" - very quick summarizing the beauty of Oscar Wilde. LOL! We had a lively discussion on the way home about what statements Oscar Wilde was making with each character. It was truly a wonderful opportunity....
Tonight we're having serious wine with his cousin Lissa - we warned her in advance that we like Muscat - so she had a bottle (or two) ready. Yay!3

Date: 2008-10-13 03:00 am (UTC)remember to drink lots a water before you get on the train. You should be peeing clear before you hit the Rockies. Even thought you're only in Denver for 24 hours, you need to hydrate to avoid altitude sickness, especially for the elevations the train will take you through.
Think of how you want to handle Wednesday. We'll go to breakfast, then we'll go to school and you can see where I teach. Beyond that, you're free to take my car for the 8 hours I will be in conferences. You'll have to come back to work to pick me up at 8, then we'll dine at the fabulous Avenue Grill.
We'll chat soon.
