Today - as a continuation of the "All About David's Birthday Weekend" we went (by his request) to see the Martin Puryear exhibit at SF MOMA. His work as dazzling - and is a sparkling debut for the museum's 5th floor gallery (as they continue to build their rooftop sculpture garden on the same floor). We also did a docent led tour on the topic of "women as art objects" with surprise guest PDX Lj'r
bobalouche. A tremendous day at MOMA - the collection and exhibits there always leave me truly inspired. Puryears use of different woods - and his way of communicating were just stunning. Some pieces seemed to defy gravity! He had woven pieces that he called "brumhilda's lungs" that were just amazing. He also made these intricately laquered and woven rings - he described as pictures only without anything in the middle. David and I are now heading out to Paul and Curtis's schwindig. :)
