The LifeSaver Storybook...
Dec. 25th, 2008 10:58 am
David and I exchanged gifts this morning - in the spirit of 'lets spend money on trips and adventures in the coming year rather than blowing a bunch of money at Christmas time' or as David puts it - we had a Present Non-Aggression pact. David got a embroidered KDFC polo and I received a fun cube of Table Topics for Couples.
Both of us admitted to present giving anxiety and told stories of dramatic failures in the past - so decided to keep in simple. David also got his first stocking - with a Christmas orange, a box of Coca Bella chocolates, a bottle of Moringa bodywash from the Body Shop and the McDiarmid family tradition - the Life Saver Story Book.
When I was a kid every year I got a Life Saver Storybook for Christmas. It was a big deal to me because getting one roll of Life Savers was a treat so getting six was HUGE. It was often a race between me and my brother as to who could make them disappear faster. (no chewing - you had to suck!) So - back to the present - I'm resisting the urge to tear open David's storybook for him and start in on the Pep-o-Mint.
We're going to Kilt Bear Paully's open house - then rendezvousing with the Michaels (Ms Golden is home from the appendicitis ordeal) and David Dehner for Dinner at Red Jade at 6pm.

Gift Fail is so pervasive, I'm suprised it isn't categorixed in the DSM (http://allpsych.com/disorders/dsm.html). :>) Congratulations to both of you for saying "Ha!" to it so effectively and so soon!

Date: 2008-12-26 06:32 am (UTC)I miss the ribbon candy also, as well as some of the other hard Christmas candies that we used to have growing up. I found a canister of candies here at QFC that looked right, but they tasted wrong (they were either licorice, cinnamon or wintergreen and the candy we used to get was fruit-flavored). Next year, I'm going to have to order a box on-line or something.
