I am feeling so much better today! but I won't over do it - less I slide backwards. Nyquil is a miracle product - I've slept 9-10 hours the last three nights and that is helping battle back the cold a great deal.

This is the first winter in a real long time that the length of the darkness at night is starting to bother me. I am growing weary of getting up in the dark and spending evenings in the dark. Spring can't come soon enough. (I realize we're barely a month into winter, but still...)

Heading to the audition clinic for the SFGMC tonight - in prep for my audition on Friday at 8pm.

Dealt with kneejerk - omgtheskyisfalling reactions today at work when a web application wasn't available for a six and a half minute window. It's a sales app - and in the downtime people started writing allstaff emails screaming about it being down - and people trying to email files back and forth manually because the application was down - and "how will we work without this application?" - and nobody thought to email the Web Director - or ask about the app and when it might be back up. It took me 30 seconds to fix the problem - followed by another flurry of "It's back up" emails from the people complaining - followed by a flurry of "I don't know what your problem is I can get into it emails" from people who didn't experience any downtime and were calling the people that experienced downtime computer illiterate. All the while - a few concerned salespeople lined up at my door to tell me the app was down - and when could they get an ETA. Lets just say that they are all lucky a tazer-style weapon was not available for my use.

Had the last of the Tijuana Pie leftovers for lunch today. Major Yummyness!

oh - and...I keep working out - and I'm losing on the sides of the tummy, but my shoulders and arms are not proceeding fast enough for me! (curse you muscles! Grow! GROW!)

why - who knows? that is why it is called minutiae.

The good news about being a month into winter is that we are now just two months away from spring. I'm starting to think that I may be more prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder than I want to admit. The long darkness has been getting under my skin also. Maybe I need to break down and do that tanning thing and see if the exposure helps.

And thanks for the FB kick in the ass. It was necessary...and delivered lovingly as always.

Good luck with your audition! I'm sure you'll do quite well.

I like your tat. I've got a Viking-era rabbit on my butt--it's got its butt lifted into the air. Appropriate, I thought...

the tat is lovely - but it is unfinished. Financial priorities changed --- and I didn't get it coloured in.... it's an expensive thing to have done.

Lookin' good. Keep up the good work -- with all the irons you have in the fire at any one time, it's amazing you ever get to the gym!

Really! It's awesome! I had forgotten about it's miracle properties as I escaped last winter without a cold that required intervention.

yeah. something else just grew!!

I wish I had your dedication to your workout routine. Randy is now on a health kick to drop some pounds. "I'm the heaviest I've ever been." So I feel the need to go with the flow. His first step is to cut out beer completely. But I did put a bug in his ear about coming up with some form of exercise, even if it's walking at this point.

I killed lattes for 2009. The milk and sugar alone (plus adding the $4 plus to my wallet daily)

I don't make it to the gym all five days some weeks - and I have to be "okay" with that. Like this week - down with "the cold" I've stayed in the last two nights. its not like I'm going to gain 500 pounds overnight.

Just listening to a song on my IPOD you shared YEARS ago: Ru Paul's "Looking good"...

Well, it must been perfect timing with reading this entry.

Looking VERY good.

Don't complain! At least, given enough patience and effort, muscles DO grow.

There are some other (important) body tissues which are not that obliging...

I think honestly it's the energy that working out gives me that allows my energy level to sustain itself. the great thing about the chorus is that it is a one night a week commitment. :) That way I can hit the gym Tues-Fri evenings. and still get in some writing time at night when I get home from the gym. and working out hard ensures me a good night's sleep which is uber-important.

I've found that to be true -- it seems like you could always put off the gym for something more important, but stay away and you pay more in lost energy and poorer sleep. So to get the most done, you put the gym first...!

and thats what it is - longterm planning. I've been working at the gym for two years now - and most of that time has been burning fat and reshaping in prep for putting on some size. I am really proud of the way things are looking these days - and that I'm well on the way to making permanent changes in my health.

Oh my,

It seems like AGES since you've posted a full frontal furry shot of yourself... and I am LOVING it!

One of the things I gave up on the gym over (and many times too!), was the fact that my arms / shoulders did not seem to make ANY changes or growth - no matter how hard I tried. And it's really my arms that I want to be bigger... *sigh*

And I hear about this Nyquil ALL the time... I need to find out it's equivalent (if any) down here in Oz! It sounds FANTASTIC! :-)

iTunes picks

I'm not questioning your judgement, but as a new iPod owner, I'm interested in your process.

What's your cirteria for selecting music from iTunes? Except for "I've Grown Accostomed to Her Face", I've never heard of any of the other pieces you've listed...and only a few of the artists (I've heard of the group Yes, but couldn't name a single song they've recorded).

well honestly? the Itunes genius lead the way to some of these picks. I'm a big Gavin Degraw fan (I am the wierdo that buys music for lyrics) - and the Itunes "genius" reccomended David Barnes. And John Mayer lead me to Jason Mraz. the classical pieces are ones that have been featured here at the radio station. and the Yes song? big fan of YES from my childhood. and the John Legend song i heard on the radio and decided to purchase. :) I have no rhyme or reason - just look for solid lyrics, hummable tunes or brilliant classical prowess. Also - Chris Botti is a favorite jazz trumpeter and he put out an album of "duets" doing famous love songs - which included Sting on "what are you doing with the rest of your life" and Dean Martin on "I've grown accustomed to her face" - etc. It's a great album - and its fun to get my trumpet fix - as well as some great vocalists.

I've got the iTunes Genius feature, as well. So far, it doesn't seem that bright; most of the selections it's tried to point me to fall under the eye-rolling, "Oh, please..." category, but given the slim volume of comparisons I've given it to work with, this is hardly surprising.

You've been a fan of YES from your childhood? Yikes...now, I DO feel old; I seem to remember an album cover of theirs from my college days.
