up and getting ready to leave ChezDave for the city. It's extraordinarily quiet in the house this morning save for the sound of water in the drain pipes. When I was a kid I used to get up and go sit in the living room on nights like this and listen to it rain - and watch the rain strike the large front windows of my childhood home. The storms used to come in off the ocean and RAGE through our little town in the islands. There were big evergreen trees in the backyard that would whine and creak in the wind. (and according to google earth they are still there today)

It's weird how clearly and powerfully that memory comes back to me this morning. Big busy week ahead of me! New Country station website at work, visit from the corporate VP of Digital, my first concert with the men's chorus... yep. busy.

I'm going to run Miss Kate out and get on my way. Ya'll travel safely to work this morning! :)

The house I grew up in 1969-1984 had a shingle roof but the porch on the east side had tin sheeting. I loved to sit in the porch to listen to the raindrops hit the sheeting for hours.

The closest I get nowadays is going to our trailer in WV, lazing on the couch while rain pelts the fibreglass roof the trailer, savouring the sounds of the raindrops --and the cries of woe from the tent campers being washed out to sea. :-)

and you then putting on your slicker and going for a stroll through the struggling washed away masses - looking for hotties to offer shelter from the cold. You are such a giver that way! :)Florence Nightingale! Mother Theresa!
