This week's episode was cool and stuff - and a storyline that had to finish - I get it. But.... Ellen returns next week - and that is when things get truly interesting. Ellen knows the truth - and the truth is about to break EVERYTHING out. This show is the best show I've ever watched on television. It's unbelievably brilliant!

Beware - episode spoilers in the comments

I wouldn't have minded seeing the coup plotline stretched over one more episode, but it worked nicely as it was.

I'm still wondering what Galen saw at the end... what's happening to the ship?

And that last moment of the episode. Wow.

I wanted Gaeta to shoot Zarek. I so wanted Zarek-brains all over the CIC table. When Zarek shot the Qourum - I knew they were dead within the episode.

I AM SO stoked about a) the return of ellen - and b) answers about what galen saw - (which my guess is the beginning of the end of the ship itself).

and unanswered questions about Starbuck (why Leoben hasn't spilled the beans for instance about who/what/how she is) - - - but with Ellen's return - we're armed for when Cabal and his friends show up. Because Ellen has base ships and old toasters --- it'll make for some very interesting storytelling.

The thing I've wanted most since the second season finally happened. Gaeta was the nastiest, slimiest thing on the show.

Those were stress fractures from the constant torque of the engines. They are the inevitable end of the ship, since there is no place that it can be refitted.

Gaeta was quite the lost, weak character, IMO. He kinda collaborates with Baltar and the Cylons during the occupation, but then it turns out he's helping the resistance. However, people don't give him much love for that.

Then, he loses his leg because of one of the Final Five, and he allies himself with Zarek, and even when Zarek executes the governing body (whatever they're called - Council of Twelve or something), he knows it's wrong, and yet he continues with him, until it's too late.

As for Ellen - I'm a bit confused about her being a Final Five AND being reborn in the slimepod (if we are to believe what we see in the trailer). I thought Final Fives were unique in that there was only one of each, and I didn't think they were able to be reborn. Plus - I thought rebirthin' was no longer possible when the Resurrection Hub was destroyed.

OK - I'll stop there - too much geekitude!

in the flash back on the nuked planet - she told Saul that "everything was in place and they'd be reborn" - my guess is that the cylons only aged because they hadn't been killed and had somehow forgotten their former selves after being resurrected. The flashback Tigh is bald - but noteceably younger. it's worth going back to the episode and watching the last 5 minutes. I think unwhoreish Cylon Ellen is going to be a smart, manipulative main Cylon in charge.

I think it will turn out that Ellen discovered the ability to resurrect - and nuked the planet to keep the other models from figuring it out. and thats why they don't discuss the "first five models". So much is going to get told in the next four-five weeks. YAY!

Thanks - I figured it was something along those lines, but I didn't catch the specific nature of the damage to the ship.

Of all the characters to turn out to be family, why did it have to turn out to be Gaeta (& Cain)? Not that every queer character has to be a saint, but could we get more stereotyped than wishy-washy treacherous fag? Oh yes, there's the ball-busting dyke in a doomed relationship with a femme- that's even more stereotyped. I do genuinely love this show - except for the retrograde sexual politics.

I didn't realize that he was... did I miss that, somewhere? Still, he was nasty. Now Anders... he is definitely family, and wants to be with me, badly.

and the fact that Gaeta's bisexuality was only shown in the webisodes - not out in the open...

it was "revealed" during the webisodes in Dec/jan leading up to the final episodes - it isn't part of the episodic story arc. it was revealed that Gaeta had an 8 (Athena) model he slept with on New Caprica - as well as a boyfriend.

BINGO. Kinda true for Cain too - although Razor certainly got more attention than did the webisodes. Overall, though, why bother outing characters if you hide it where people won't see it?

yeah - after two years of living elsewhere - all the time knowing that Tigh murdered her. I'd say Ellen has a chip on her shoulder. and some stories to tell - (like, did she know she was a cylon the entire time? or what?) and secrets to throw out on the table.

But, wait! Righteousness is not all on one side.

Remember the dilemma on New Caprica where some good guys were suicide bombing and others thought those acts were unconscionable? This is a similar, IMHO.

Gaeta is following the democratically elected civilian leader, Zarek. (Zarek is VP, and the President is not governing.) The Admiral is clearly acting as a military dictator and ignoring the wishes of the civilian government.

Gaeta feels caught between his oath to the government and his oath to follow military orders.

When Zarek shows his true intentions by murdering the Quorum, Gaeta flips. He could have forced a blood bath when the "good guys" were about to take back C&C, but didn't.

Gaeta rebelled against the Admiral, but was he a traitor to the Colonial Government or the Colonies?

[And, this is why BSG is spectacular TV!]

Interesting interpretation - but I'd say the reason Roslin wasn't governing is because Zarek is attempting a coup... :-) And remember, Gaeta wanted to kill Roslin and Co when they were in the shuttle. Roslin was ill and a bit ditsy, but she was still the leader, and it's not clear exactly what the role of the Quorum vs. the President vs. the military is - can the Quorum oppose the President's wishes, or merely express disapproval? And of course, whoever's got the guns gets the final word (ships being forced to take Cylons).

Because straight fan boys are insecure about their own same sex attractions and their own ridiculous unattainable fantasies of sleeping with two hot chicks.
