This was sent to me tonight by my dear friend Lance althrman with whom I'm celebrating nearly 17 years of friendship with this year... He always knows the right thing to send and say -- and I really appreciated this from him.

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I agree with the message except that none of the states or emotions mentioned are good or evil per se save that we make them so.

As you probably know, my grandmother was Cherokee. This is one of my favorite Cherokee stories.

My grandmother also taught me that we need a spirit guide in life. After much soul searching and meditation, I was given the vision that my spirit guide is the Thunderbird.
