thoreau: (coffee level critical)

So today - the office is throwing a big Earth Day potluck. It's the launch of Entercom Corporate's 1Thing initiative - a corporate wide environmental campaign to greatly reduce the company's carbon footprint. They are doing away with utensils (cups, forks, spoons, etc.) (and providing us with a earth-friendly set of reusable plate set and an official "1Thing" cup. Its a pretty aggressive and honest effort to reduce waste (moving to 100% recycled papers; getting rid of almost all of our printers and moving to a PDF world, etc.).

But - back to the potluck. I made this delicious caprese salad (mozzarella and Roma tomatoes in a vinaigrette). I got up this morning and packed it up carefully - then on my way to the elevator proceeded to drop it down the trash shoot with the garbage I was taking out. After a tourette syndrome cursing fit in the garbage room (I realized what I'd done as soon as the PAIR of bag handles left my hand) I rushed downstairs figuring - it was in a paper bag and a plastic tupper - so I could retrieve it; only to arrive as the compactor in the basement did it's morning compacting; permanently smashing my potluck hopes. (insert charlie brown style AUUUUUUUGH! here)

so I decided with 80 employees there would be plenty of food and I just got to the office. and as of writing this post I STILL don't have coffee. *grumble*

Reminds me of the time I had a beautiful, home-made pumpkin cheesecake to take to work only to have the plate fall over in the car and ruin the presentation (still tasted good...looked like crap)...I feel your pain, man! :)

OMG. This has not been your 24 hours has it. Mega-ticket, driving school and a pre-coffee run-in with a compactor. I hope the rest of your day goes better. (A note for the future of the human race, make sure you get your coffee BEFORE you leave the house, EVERY day!)

Atleast the cheese and tomatoes are biodegradable. Although not so sure about the tupperware. I think getting coffee should be top priority.

Oh man, that's frustrating! I hope it wasn't one of your favorite 'wares, too.

I wish "The big B" broadcaster would go green... but it doesn't seem to be in their church's mindset to take care of God's creation. *sigh*
