first nations pow wow

thoreauA surprise of this weekend - was being able to attend and take pictures at the The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation POW WOW in Discovery Park. We literally discovered it by accident.

It was a simply astounding display of indian dance and culture from nebraska west to the pacific and north to Alaska. I picked up some artwork - several very neato tshirts. What was most interesting was how many different ethnicities within the first nations - had different ethnicities in their dance teams from african americans to asian to hispanic teens all dancing with the Blackfeet, Haida and Salish. It was quite something.
