I hear rumblings on LJ - and also at the gym this morning - about gay men who (if Hillary is not on the ticket for the Democratic Party) will give their vote to McCain. I cannot understand voting for a war mongering, sexist, abortion foe with a sense of the world that continues the road of alienation and bully tactics that is bush and reagan's foreign policy. He's also not friendly even REMOTELY to gay rights - (granted mainstream politics in this country isn't all that friendly anyhow but...) even if he did show up on Ellen's show.

I can't see how a vote for McCain - who is a ruthless conservative of the WORST kind - is a protest against Obama not choosing Hillary.

Not voting? perhaps. and I'd wholeheartedly support that gesture actually.

But voting for McCain and actively campaigning for him? Thats simply aiding the enemy politically of everything progressive. I don't understand that.

and lets not be naive here - McCain and his party are the enemy of all things progressive in this country. Supporting the GOP when their platform devalues women, doesn't recognize gay people as equal citizens, fights to make reproductive rights illegal, and continues to fight and support wars on the backs of our young men and women in the service, and to give the GOP license to continue bullying it's way around the world and destroying whats left of the confidence in America as a superpower abroad?

Gay people voting for McCain in the next election is the equivalent of a Jew voting for Hitler... Look at what the GOP has done to this country in the last eight years of Bush. It's disgraceful. McCain will change a few things - but he's a conservative religious dinosaur. Voting for him is simply voting your own rights and value as a gay person away.

I had lunch with Jeff ([livejournal.com profile] beg1n) and Phil ([livejournal.com profile] philbutrin) at the local vegetarian restaurant ANANDA FUARA at Post and Market. SERIOUS yummy food. Phil had their famous neatloaf (an egg, rice and tofu fritta grilled and served like meatloaf), Jeff had the portobello wrap and I had their eggplant parmesan sandwich.

I'd never met Phil - and I have perma-beard-envy. How come red bears get all the thick luscious beardness? Besides being adorable (duh!) he's also obviously very bright and a lot of fun to hang out with. I now know why Jeff loved having him as a roomy and as a lifelong friend.

I love all the food options that SF provides and as Ananda Fuara's website says "the road to enlightened eating goes through Ananda Fuara."
David and I started using the term boyfriend recently. :) yay!3
I went to stop by Macy's for a myboyfrienddeservesalittlegiftytm run and got sidetracked by what a beautiful sunshiny day it was and ended up just walking back to the office.
I need to hook Phil up with the career counselor Robbie and Fish hooked me up with (Robbie! what is Suzanne's last name?).
I am making steak for a buddy for dinner tonight - then the ultimate chicken burrito for David and my theater pal Tony tomorrow night. Then it's the June Fine Food Frenzy Group outing to Brick on Sunday evening. Whats not to like about a weekend with the boyfriend filled with good food!
oh - and I got the theater part I auditioned for!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!

I will be appearing as "Roger" in the September production of New Contemporary Theater's play Friends Are Forever by local playwright Tom Kelly. It runs Wed-Sun - August 28th to September 28th.

I could not be more excited!

To make my stage debut in SF with such a quality group in such a outright gay play is so damned exciting. and it's a paid gig on top of it. YAY!3

I have missed REAL theater so much since moving to San Francisco - and to score this gig feels SO very good. I can't wait!

Ingredients

1 cup macadamia nuts
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1 bag of dried pineapple from the grocery
1 quart buttermilk
4 defrosted boneless chicken breast
1/2 pound string beans
1/2 pound yellow corn
1 walla walla sweet onion
olive oil
kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper

Defrost your four chicken breast and then leave them for the day while you are at work - or whatever you do to be fabulous - soaking in a tupperware filled with a quart of buttermilk. (8 hours+)

Get home from your day of fabulousness, and preheat the oven to 350.

Crush macadamia nuts to bread crumb consistency in food processor, add dried pineapple and pulse till it little bits, add parmesan and pulse a couple of times to properly mix everything up. Take the chicken out of the fridge and roll each chicken breast in the parmesan/macadamia/pineapple mixture. Place on a baking sheet. Put in the oven for 30-45 minutes.

Cook until golden brown.

Then tonight I made a succotash style vegetable in sauce to go over the chicken. I pan fried string beans and corn with olive oil, a tablespoon or so of ground coriander, pepper and salt in a very hot pan turning and cooking till the corn started to brown, then I added a 1/3 cup pineapple puree (canned pineapple drained and dried and then food processed into a puree). Then I fried an entire walla walla sweet onion up in another pan. I separated each of the layers so they made a nice big piece of onion. I cooked it and fried it up until the onion started browning and combined it all together and put over the chicken breast.

WOW what a great meal! YUM3
