So - for the past year - every morning when I get home from the gym - I've had a bowl of Oatmeal Squares with a Yoplait Yogurt mixed in. Today as my latest box ended (wipes tear from eye) - I wondered if there was another high fiber and still yummy way to get my breakfast.

I then follow it up with a Chocolate SuperProtein drink from Odwalla from the Rite Aid on the way into the office (making sure I get my protein surge after the gym).

Then - once at work - I walk over to Peet's Coffee for a Sugar Free Soy Mocha.

So I'm curious - what do other folks do for breakfast on a work-day morning?

Susan Graham and RuthAnn Swenson in the SF Opera production "Ariodante" by Handel

I am attending the San Francisco Opera tonight with Michael ([livejournal.com profile] bibliocub) to see Handel's ARIODANTE.

Rediscovered after two centuries of neglect, this baroque gem has been widely acclaimed as a masterpiece containing some of Handel’s most emotionally expressive arias.

A Scottish prince is betrayed by a deceitful duke in this compelling tale of passion, envy, greed, despair and ultimate triumph. Mezzo-soprano Susan Graham returns in the title role, with Sonia Prina as the scheming Polinesso, and the return of Ruth Ann Swenson as Ginevra. Veteran director John Copley deftly negotiates the twists and turns of the story.

THREE AND A HALF HOURS of opera tonight. Being in the Baroque period - they sang everything twice. EVERYTHING. Michael turned to me at one point and whispered "I think they are going to repeat whole first act again! shit!" The music was absolutely beautiful and Handel was imaginatively staged.... but man - by the third act - it was comical to hear this beautiful aria - just for the stage blocking and music to reset and do it all again. This is really hard music too... The leads were PHENOMENAL - the tenor was one of the clearest voices I've heard at SF Opera. Lyrical crying - boasting - mourning - - - Handel's music communicated clearly a astounding range of emotions. I was stunned - and am pretty overwhelmed and tired. :) so goodnight!
