Found out they've already pulled it and wrote Heinz telling them that I'm not buying their brand now.

My only criticism of the ad is their addressing the one man as "Mum". With families with two dads, one's usually "Papa" and the other "Daddy", or variations of the same. The interactions, however, ring true.

Kids figure it out, without needing a feminine title for one of the dads (Probably a Straight writer...go figure).

Great intentions, though. Probably set off quite a ruckus in the Kingdom.

For a seemingly inoffensive advert, it somehow managed to get over 200 calls of complaint and was pulled. This has raised a vast amount of coverage in the media - and some suggest that this might all have been part of Heinz' plan. I'm sure many would have missed the ad otherwise.

The 'Mum' thing has prompted questions, with commentators even suggesting that this wasn't intended to be a two dad family - but one where the real mum had been transformed into a New York Deli attendant. Either way, it's not that well acted, and I can't see many folk rushing out to buy Heinz deli spread as a result.

I guess it will rumble on for a while. Radio shows have wheeled out rent-a-rant homophobes complaining that the ad would upset children and their parents (even though it was only shown after 9pm). And since it was pulled, boycotts have been mentioned on gay networking sites. It all seems a fuss over nothing.
