My caltrain buddy Ned twisted my arm (no don't make me go drink no - - - oh, okay, if I must!!) to go wine tasting before catching our train - so we're well lubricated and on the 556pm train. We stop at District (
http://www.districtsf.com) every once in a while and indulge in oysters and a delicious flight of red wine. (Boyfriend Dave doesn't "do" red wine - - so it's a nice treat)
My wine flight? This one was called "Big Funky Reds (Syrah, Grenache & More)"
- Chateau Astruc Syrah, Minervois, France 2008
Aromas and palate of plum, fig, and dark cocoa. The finish is earthy, with medium body and moderate tannins. - Vina Valoria Cosecha Tempranillo, Rioja, Spain 2006
Aromas of cherry, berry, raisin and cigar box. Palate has hints of raisins with deep flavors of blueberries and plums. Dry and pleasant tannins on the finish. - Domaine de la Cote de L'Ange, Cotes du Rhone, France 2007
Sustainable. Award winemakers Jean-Claude Mestre and Yannick Gaspari. Spicy and smoky palate with notes of plum, blueberry, earth, licorice and lavender.
So now I'm heading south - and will take Miss Kate for a long Kateywalk(tm) to make up for being late getting home. Tonight's it is just the Goddess and me - with Dave off twostepping till all hours. SO - an extra long walk and some quality "kill the dragon" time is in order.
