My landlord called this morning to tell me that they have decided to install new kitchens in all the units including a new stove and a new granite countertop! YAY!

You're obviously taking your landlord for granite. How does that make you feel?

OK, more like the local fundraiser's 50/50 raffle.

I sooo want a new kitchen. I'm absolutely mint with envy.

Now if this were Gay fiction, the installers would be Gay, burly, furry, and available.

What am I thinking??? We're talking San Francisco, here! From the POV of Wisconsin, you're LIVING Gay fiction (Not to be confused with LA, which is in an alternative universe).

Isn't "The Gay Section of Disneyland" like specifying 'the wet part of the ocean'?

Is this a prelude to raising the rent? Or converting rentals to condos? If not, how can they afford it?

my guess - is that somewhere down the line - she's going to a) sell the buildling or b) convert to condos/TIC

the buildling is rent controlled - so she cannot raise the rent.

You know, they made such a big stink about houses containing radon gas a few years back.

Guess what emits radon gas? Granite, your friendly neighborhood low-level radioactive ore.

We have no rent control here.
I dont know if your ecall the apartment I got kicked out of last year?
Well they also put in a new kitchen.
After they kicked me out the rent went from $190 per week to $385.This is whats happening here and theres nothing anyone can do about it.

ARGH! I knew you'd had an awful time. Rent control is an amazing law here. To "go condo" they'd have to buy us all out of our leases and pay for relocation.
