verbalizing minutaie

I am now in my third week without cable television. Granted - I had a week of Australian Uberhawtness to distract me - but it took till last night for me to really notice how much I used to rely on the television. I got home at my normal 615pm-ishness - - and took the goddess that is Miss Kate out for a walk, put dinner in the roaster - and sat down on the couch - and reaching for the remote i realized there was no CSI marathon running on my television - no eight viewing of the same episode of Top Chef - no cartoon network. So I played a little PSP (yes - I unashamedly own Madden Football for my PSP), read my book for a little while (god I'm in love with Fforde's wit and conversation writing skils), and I did some research on the Gay and Lesbian Ski Club (since I'm going to get up in the mountains skiing this winter!), chatted with Mr (aforementioned Australian Uberhawtness) Vaz for a while (it's truly wierd to realize he's a day ahead of me (6pm PST equals 11am there the NEXT day)), and did some housecleaning. This list of stuff isn't neccesarily remarkable - or something totally out of the ordinary. I had Dianna Krall and Jane Monheit softly singing the entire time.
It feels good to pull loose of the dominant paradigm and not have cable. I notice that it puts me all in a calmer space. It was bizarre to realize that affect of the constant barrage of commercial noise from the television.
Now I can see how I now might look forward to reading DWELL magazine with some jazz playing and a glass of Port.
How I might work on some craft projects or some other personal ideas - whereas a few weeks ago - the allure of just vegetating on the couch watching simply anything sometimes had become the trend.
I am enjoying the life-reset that the comcasticless life has created.

Then tomorrow night is my workoutpartner and friend David C.'s 50th birthday party. Looking over the guestlist on evite - it should be an interesting evening. almost every comment on the evite reminds David to be ready for the paddle. ;)
Then next week is the arrival of my brother Drew, (
We are launching the final of the three websites on Monday - with the new website for the country station THE WOLF. It's not a dramatic redeaux - we just added some bells and whistles and a real cool download store - that lets you purchase the songs we play at the click of a button. Learning the PHPness behind it has been overwhelming - and lots and lots of work.
