I got Drew ([livejournal.com profile] bootedintexas) all set up with his "Weight Watchers for Men" membership this morning.

I bought him a year of Weight Watchers for his birthday.

I told him to be patient - that it happens over MONTHS not weeks. (my 42 pounds came off over 7 months)

I am going to so super supportive of his new goal!

Go over to his post - and offer him your support! GO DREW GO!

I break these guys out occasionally - I used them in a NW Aids Foundation poster YEARS ago - and just kept the photograph. I don't even remember the original origins of the photograph.

Wow...42 pounds? That's great! I heard that WW now has something geared toward men now. I am thinking of joining it myself.
BTW....those are THE hottest cheerleaders I have ever seen. :)

Weight Watchers for men changed my life (and a gym membership) I'm now the weight I was when I graduated from high school - and the best part? I've kept it off. I reached 175 in May - and have kept it off now for four months with little or no effort.

Whoa, wait, let me get this straight -- you got your twin brother a Weight Watchers membership for his 40th birthday!? That's even worse than my mom sending me Just for Men beard dye! Geez, talk about reminding people of their shortcomings just when they should be celebrating...

I know you're a sensitive guy, so you two must have some understanding that made this a good gift. But on the face of it, it sounds kinda outrageous.

One of the most amazing conversations we had while Drew was in town over the weekend - was talking about my last year of losing 42 pounds on Weight Watchers and getting back to a real gym routine. It wasn't a "shortcomings" conversation - but my way of evangelizing what an incredible change it's been for me - and how I wanted to encourage him to follow. Drew is on a limited budget - and one of the stumbling blocks to him choosing Weight Watchers - was that his budget couldn't carry the membership as well as a gym membership. So I purchased the WW membership - and he's paying for his gym membership.

But - - - all that said - folks that join Weight Watchers need lots of support - particularly at the beginning of the process. Lots of "go girls" - and "thatta boy girlfriend" and that sorta stuff.

So - it's a real real positive investment in Drew's health - and helping him make a step towards something he's really wanted to do.

SO there is nothing negatively based here at all.

but i understood the intent my brother and my mom mean in their support. i have lost some weight ... i used to weigh more like 250. THe scale last night said 238.

So onward. (i have a 30Gig ipod with a large video screen anyhow....)

evil laugh.
