I just got up from a nap - sleeping on the floor next to Kateydog. She's had a rough day of illness - and the poor thing is just exhausted.

I woke up and layed there on the floor for while - listening to the sunset breezes pass through the trees by my apartment... listening to the cars go by on the street... listening to my neighbors walk on the ceiling... listening to the car beep it's horn in the distance... to two birds singing... to the dove that hangs out on the minaret next door and coos.

I got rolled over on the bedroom floor and watched Miss Kate breath. She has such chocolate brown eyes... and these strong black whiskers that come out through the greying fur on her snout. I sat listening with her. eye to eye. we sat like that for a good while. She licked her lips and let out a gigantic sigh. i stroked her head and told her that I loved her. it's been a quiet day alone - making sure Kateydog KNOWS I'm here. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I miss those quiet apartment days, especially in an older building; they have something special about them, and they sound so different from more modern construction.
