What a Friday afternoon! I'm now back from the vet - and it's okay news. The doc thinks that he and I were perhaps too optimistic about her ability to get to eating - so - I have bags of Saline Water on the counter (I hear that 2007 is a good vintage!) and Miss Kate and I will be spending quality time with IV liquids in the morning and in the night. Along with the pocket of fluids under her skin - I'll be administering anti-nausea meds as well. She'll be food free again till Monday - - but getting the liquid IVs. It'll just give us some good quality time together! We're home and resting - and I'm getting the carpet cleaned up from where she got sick earlier. So - it's not a TOTAL set back to the beginning as the dogwalker feared - but simply one small step backwards - and we'll move forward. The doc did raise the spectre again of what might happen if she doesn't bounce back - but we'll see.

I have to give props out to Miss Shannon [livejournal.com profile] jodfoster who reminded me to stop and meditate and get my 'stuff' together before coming home - it allowed me to get in here - get Miss Kate to the doctor - and learn all this stuff with all my composure intact. (yay!) But - Shannon was good enough to stop me and remind me how much meditation helps me in my life and did the iChat equivalent of slapping me upside the head with a wet salmon. Yay her!3

A fellow meditator! I love it! Glad it's working for you, and I am so glad Kate is still on the mend. I'm sure she appreciates being loved too.

I started meditating a couple of years ago - I still do so - with Chanticleer's "A Village Wedding" from their "Colours of Love" recording. it has turned into the perfect meditation mood creator for me personally. :)

Kateydog - well she's a very special little gal. that is totally for sure.

"Slapping you upside the head with a wet salmon"??

Like THAT'S suppose to HELP!!!??? LOL

Glad you've maintained your composure - I'm sure the setback was Miss Katey being too eager to make herself feel better too. The way you described her bouncing back, maybe she was too hungry and eager for her own good - and just overdid it a little. I know how I feel when I eat too much!

And you have such a HUGE number of friends surrounding you (both physically and here in cyberspace) sending you BOTH out love!

*hugs*

wet salmon slapping is a NW/Seattle sorta thing. don't worry - you're not SUPPOSED to understand.

I do know that I have lots of love and support. :) I look forward to posting a HAPPY DANCE KATEYDOG video... very soon.

One of our dogs (Lab/Great Dane) is 11 and he is really beginning to show it. He has been our baby for such a long time.... it will be hard when the time comes. You'll have your hands full for the next few days, but how lucky your baby is to have someone take care of her so well. You seem like a really good guy.

Miss Kate's 8th birthday is Monday. So I'm hoping we'll get this all solved by then. She's an amazing little dog!

Robert - thank goodness for Shannon indeed. When one starts going OMGOMGOMG (and not in a snarky way). one doesn't always do the right thing. (I should know! ;-))

Please give Miss Kate my best wishes. And for you - if I can do anything, please let me know.

I'm honestly? okay.... I need rest - and perhaps having to stop and play IV Nurse for miss Katey will force me to do that.

I know things can't be wonderful right now but Miss Kate can count herself lucky. I just want you to remember... life is not always a picnic but life is generally fair. Oh, we don't' like to think that with our daily news but our daily news doesn't mean squat. Our daily living with our loved ones, and dogs/cats can easily be our loved ones, shows us that although not always sunny, it is always worth it. You hang in there as I am sure Miss Kate will. I am sending virtual hugs, kisses and healing thoughts your way.

Oh, my 20 year old cat just informed me that Miss Kate is a young whippersnapper and will be just fine, even though my 20 year old cat can't stand dogs. She said she will tolerate her long enough to send get well wishes. :-)

Glad I could be of some help to you. I actually felt as helpless to help you as you did for miss Kate so 8 relied on what I know gets you peace and greater understanding. glad to read she's on the mend. Sending more healing vibes to the BOTH of you. *hugs*
