So - the affable and adorable David V. in Denver [livejournal.com profile] annoyinghandle picked 7 of my "interests" from my profile and asked me to elaborate:

  • bathing with a man
  • codependency
  • esoteric psychobabble
  • compassion
  • toaster pastries
  • sweat
  • and tulips.

Bathing with a man

I do get a particular thrill out of bathing with a man or bathing a man. I have a big clawfoot tub in my apartment - and one of the most erotic times I've ever shared with someone here is pouring a hot bubble bath - and then kneeling by the side of the tub and washing them with a sponge. Slowly. and taking the time to find every inch of them - and smell the natural scent of their body then wash it and touch it. and Bubblebaths are fun just as they are - to share a big bubblebath tub a man between my legs leaning back on my chest. WOOF. then there is showering. I LOVE showering with someone and making out - even being full on sexual in the shower. A boyfriend when I lived in Seattle loved surprising me in the morning shower - letting me get in the shower - and even soaped up and rinsing and he'd come in full hardon ready to fuck - and then do so. I just get a great deal out of that ritual no matter what time of the day.

codependency

THE MOST OVERUSED WORD IN THE GAY LEXICON! Codependency is real - defined as of or pertaining to a relationship in which one person is physically or psychologically addicted, as to alcohol or gambling, and the other person is psychologically dependent on the first in an unhealthy way. I've been recovering from a relationship with a sex addict for nearly a year now - and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO codependent. For the first six months after the breakup I attended Codependent anonymous meetings - because breaking up with him for ME - felt like breaking an addiction. I'd become addicted to being in love with him. So - I've read a great deal about it - researched it - discussed it.

But I also think people (in my experience gay men) use "codependence" as an excuse for any fowl behavior in their lives. "oh he's being codependent" if someone reacts poorly to the absolutely FOUL shitty behavior. and I've been on both sides of this - treating someone like shit - and KNOWING it - and just dismissing it as codependent "horseshit" - but my recent battle with a truly codependent/addictive relationship? Taught me to rethink - reevaluate - and never use the word lightly ever again. because codependency is VERY real - and is a terrible thing. but is used (i think) as a cover word for lots of other simply irresponsible behaviors.

esoteric psychobabble

I love Thoreau - that should say most of it for this. Thoreau LOVED words and the more esoteric the better. and he loved waxing on and on about nature and the psychosis of early Americans in government. So - esoteric psychobabble!

compassion

Compassion is something I think we (as Americans) lack often. Defined as "a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering."

I sometimes get carried away in my worry/care for other folks - and also - never hesitate to get my hands dirty and DO something about it. My biggest lesson on this was politics in Idaho - I was a gay rights activist - but really found compassion for the struggle for women to remain in charge of their OWN reproductive decisions - and found myself also fighting for the reproductive family planning rights of women in Idaho. Something that I just have never understood is the GALL of White American Christian Men in charge (hello? power pyramid?) so willing to subjegate women. UGH!

anyway - I list compassion as an interest - because it makes me feel human to get compassionate vs. passionate about politics, the homeless, the misfortunate... etc.

toaster pastries

Hi - my name is Robert and I love PopTarts! (Hi Robert!) it's been two weeks since my last packet of frosted flavorgasmic toaster pastries - and its only a matter of time before the next box comes into my house. and now it's also TOASTER STRUEDEL - now I KNOW it's awful for me and has almost a negative nutritional value - but a hot cup of coffee with a Toaster Struedel? Yum factor gazillion. I love them.

sweat and tulips

no - these two don't go together! :) its just how David's sentence ended and it struck me an interesting combo.

Sweat? I can remember as early as 8 or 9 being attracted to how being sweaty felt, how sweat smelled on other people. It's always been a sweat on the body - I never got the sweaty jockstrap or tshirt thing. I like fresh - honest, sweat. It tastes like nectar coming off someone - and I love sweating real heavy when I'm having sex - or when I'm working hard in the yard - or when I'm working outdoors on a project - or hiking int he woods. if I get covered in sweat - its worth it. I can't tell you WHY really - but oh my god - it's just so wonderful. it feels great to be wet in the head and the crotch with sweat. its one of the reasons I love working out really hard.

as for tulips? I grew up near the Skagit Valley which boasts the 2nd largest tulip crop outside of Holland. Amazing stuff. So from an early age I romanticized tulips. I just love them. I have carved tulips, pictures of tulips, and as often as I can fresh tulips in my home. I just have a life long love affair with them.

Here endeth this particular list - - - thanks Dave, for asking.

We're similar on that, 'cept I do it fully clothed.

Weird, huh? Guess it's the biker in me.

We have a big "pedestal"-style tub -- a claw-foot without feet, just a stand that the tub sits in/on, and it's AWESOME for long, luxurious baths... Unfortunately, I'm too big to really "share" it, but the kiddens come and visit sometimes...okay...*all* the time. ;o)

Sweat (and "sweaty sex") is one of my turn-ons, too... [[nods vigourously]] For all the reasons you list and many more (mostly that I seem to produce sweat in vast quantities...[[blushes]]).

:o)

PopTarts

Today's PopTarts are greatly improved over the original. But, have you noticed that they're almost always frosted these days? And, with sprinkles. And, the fruit flavors have gone by the wayside, as now they come in various shades of chocolate or the ultimate sin, frosted brown sugar and cinnamon. (Let's completely toss the idea of any sort of nutrition right out the window, shall we?)

I took a look at the carb content.

Ooh. Well, that'll make my head spin! Well, no more PopTarts for me!

and now they have Pop Tarts to go in the convenience store in the shape of candy bars. Damn them!

Fie on frosting! I like the old Pop Tarts that were more fruity (heehee) and not frosted. Too much sugar for me.

My "guilty" pleasure with those unfrosted Tarts was to butter them when they came out pipin' hot and let it melt in.

Mmmm....

That is the real way to eat them : )

Interesting. The first man ever to pick me off the street was hugely turned on at the prospect of bathing me. It was New York, sometime in the very early 80's; he saw me leaving a now-defunct bar in midtown Manhattan, approached me tentatively on the sidewalk, and suggested that we go somewhere that had a bathtub. I was staying with a friend, so he volunteered to rent a hotel room. There were a lot of firsts that evening....

I haven't met anyone else fascinated by the idea of bathing another man since then.

Showers, Sweat and Tulips

when I lived in Boise - I planted the gay pride flag in tulips along the street at my house. Friends used to tease that it could be seen from orbit. I get a lot of joy out of knowing that the gay pride flag now blooms every spring for the young Mormon couple that bought the house from me.

Some hard earned sweat is a glorious thing and so is bathing together afterwards.

Pop Tarts? Unfrosted and fruit filled, por favor. With melting butter if I want some extra fatness.

Really now

Momentarily ignoring the whole bathing meme. And going right down the the sweat and tulips discussion.

While I'm not a huge fan of actually sweating... (I overheat far too quickly) Occasionally catching a whiff of clean perspiration can get me started... Stand back and watch out.

More importantly Tulips. Like you they are my absolute favorite flower... Unlike you, I have no idea why. I'm particularly fond of yellow tulips.... somewhere I read that giving yellow tulips signifies friendship.
